Anthony from Task already has a special connection to HBO: Here's how

HBO's latest star-studded crime drama series, Task, premiered on September 7, 2025. Created by Mare of Easttown's Brad Ingelsby, the series will have seven episodes in total. New episodes are set to drop every Sunday at 9 PM ET on HBO until the season finale on October 19, 2025. Apart from Mark Ruffalo in a leading role, the series features Emilia Jones (CODA), Tom Pelphrey (Mank), Sam Keeley (Kin), Fabien Frankel (The Actor), and Thuso Mbedu (The Woman King), to name a few. It delves into the life of Tom Brandiss, an FBI agent. Tom, who's recovered from a family tragedy, is tasked with taking down a set of violent burglaries initiated by Robbie, a garbage collector who robs at night.

If you reread carefully the cast list, House of the Dragon fans might find a name that sounds similar. Still confused?

Among the many incredible performers, Fabien Frankel, who portrays the role of Anthony, a young detective, played a part in the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon. Frankel portrayed the role of Ser Criston Cole in the HBO series. He was initially appointed as the Kingsguard to King Viserys I Targaryen at the request of Princess Rhaenyra. However, he soon switched sides after the betrayal and proved his loyalty towards Queen Alicent Hightower. Frankel's character in House of the Dragons is complex, and the viewers are quite critical about it. However, it would be quite refreshing to see him in a different role apart from the Game of Thrones franchise.

Who is Anthony Grasso in Task?

Fabien Frankel portrays the role of Anthony Grasso in HBO's latest crime thriller series, Task. Anthony Grasso is a no-nonsense detective of Tom Brandis' FBI task force, along with Aleah and Lizzie. Grasso bears a strong Philly accent, as he apparently hails from South Philly. He's shown as a smart, talented, and charismatic fellow.

Born on April 6, 1994, Fabien Joseph Frankel is a 31-year-old actor who's best known for his role in House of the Dragon. Unfortunately, he lost his father, Mark Frankel, in a car accident when he was two. Frankel and his brother were raised by their mother, Caroline Besson.

After graduating from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2017, he began his career as a theater artist. Soon, he bagged a role in a romantic comedy film, Last Christmas. Apart from House of the Dragon, you might know him as Dominique Renelleau from The Serpent or as Gaspar Chevrolet from An Uncandid Portrait.

Some of his notable projects include NYPD Blue, Venice at Dawn, Lag, and The Actor. He is also set to reprise his role as Ser Criston Cole in House of the Dragon Season 3.

We have seen Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole in HBO's House of the Dragon. Even though people initially rooted for him, his character arc shifted in such a way that most of the love turned to criticism. It's a refreshing change to see Frankel as Anthony in Task. A role that is quite different from his House of the Dragon character and is mostly positive.
