Onza Entertainment’s docuseries, Vulnerables, has been acquired by Atresmedia, one of Spain’s major broadcasters, ahead of the South International Series Festival, Variety reported on September 1, 2025. The three-part docuseries is created by Gonzalo Sagardia, the CEO and co-founder of Onza, and sheds light on the mental health struggles of today’s youth.

Directed by Gonzalo Sargadia and Gustavo Ron, Vulnerables is set for a world premiere on September 16, 2025, in the South International Series Festival, being held in Cádiz, Spain. The docuseries will be screened in the non-fiction section of the film festival.

Given the demanding subject of the docuseries, being acquired by a leading broadcaster will help the series gain the attention it requires to reach the audience.

More on this in our story.

Atresmedia acquires broadcasting rights of Vulnerables

The documentary series created by Sargadia will be a must-watch for everyone as it focuses on one of the most pressing issues of recent times. It will focus on the mental health issues of the young people of today.

Sargadia shared that the three-part docuseries was made to bring the world’s attention and awareness toward a matter often overlooked. As per Variety, he said:

"The increasing deterioration of young people’s mental health worldwide is worrying. Suicide, sexual assault and physical disorders are undoubtedly three major problems for our society. And they are not receiving the necessary attention from society or its leaders."

Therefore, the docuseries will put the limelight on these struggles and seek to initiate dialogues on the same.

Since Atresmedia has acquired the broadcasting rights, the docuseries will surely reach audiences around the country, which will then bring attention to the narrative of Vulnerables. In addition, the show’s authenticity toward its subject is also enhanced by the fact that its makers worked with many mental health experts and institutions around the world, and benefited from the guidance of Spanish psychiatrist Marián Rojas.

It might be a Spanish docuseries, but the narrative that Vulnerables will highlight is a global issue that has implications for the society at large.

Not just Spain’s Atresmedia, Vulnerables has also been acquired by Al Jazeera, CNN Portugal, Swedish Films, Flow, and ViX for Latin America, Germany’s ZDF, and RTBF Belgique, among several others.
