The Bosch universe is expanding with its second spin-off show Ballard, which will debut on Amazon Prime Video on July 9, 2025.
The spin-off series is based on Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch book series, which was adapted in a police procedural series, starring Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch. Welliver also reprised his character in the spin-off series Bosch: Legacy.
The spin-off series is based on LAPD Detective Renée Ballard, a character first introduced in Connelly's book series. The show will follow Renee as she is assigned to a Cold Case department.

1) Maggie Q as Detective Renée Ballard
Ballard is led by Maggie Q's Detective Renée, who takes command of LAPD's newly formed Cold Case Division. Her team mostly consists of volunteers and misfits, but as she digs up decades-old homicides, she uncovers deep secrets, cover-ups, and corruption in the police department itself.
Maggie Q is best known for her work in CBS' Stalker, ABC's Designated Survivor, Pivoting, and Nikita. She has also appeared in movies, including Mission: Impossible III, The Protégé, and Fear the Night.
2) John Carroll Lynch as Thomas Laffont
John Carroll Lynch will play the role of Thomas Laffont, a retired police officer who returns to the Cold Case department to help Renee. Thomas is also an experienced detective and interrogator, who will become Renee's trusted partner on her new job.
Lynch is best known for his work in The Trial of the Chicago 7, Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Invitation, and Shutter Island.
3) Courtney Taylor as Samira Parker
Samira Parker is an up-and-coming police officer in the LAPD, who is recruited by Ballard for her new team. She is a determined and hardworking police officer who is willing to go to any lengths and prove her worth in her new role.
Taylor has previously starred in Abbott Elementary, Neon, Insecure, and The Company You Keep.
4) Michael Mosley as Ted Rawls
Ted Rawls is a seasoned and reserved officer and one of Renee's superiors, who is assigned to the cold cases department to keep an eye on her.
Mosley is best known for his character of Everett Lynch in Criminal Minds. He has also appeared in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, FBI, and Ozark.

Titus Welliver will also reprise his Bosch character in Ballard
Welliver debuted as Los Angeles Police Department Detective III Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch in 2014. Harry Bosch is a former Army Special Forces operator and a war veteran, who now works in the Hollywood homicide division.
After the show concluded in 2021, Welliver reprised his character in the 2022 spin-off series Bosch: Legacy, where Harry now works as a freelance private investigator.
Welliver will also reprise his character in a guest capacity for Ballard and will help the titular detective in her cases.
He is also known for his roles in Big Apple, NYPD Blue, The Good Wife, Titans, and The Equalizer.
