Bel-Air final season adds a touch of nostalgia as original Aunt Viv actress Janet Hubert joins the cast

Bel-Air’s final season on Peacock will see Jane Hubert, who played the original Aunt Viv on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, in a new and exciting role. Hubert will play the role of an astute woman who meets Hilary (played by Coco Jones) and later has a prominent presence in Banks family storyline. The fourth and the final season of the series will also see Caroline Chikezie and Tyra Banks as a guest star.

Peacock’s hit series is the reboot of the 90’s hit sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, originally starting Will Smith. The series revolves around an aspiring basketball player who moves in with his rich family members living in Bel-Air. Last year it was reported that the series will conclude with its fourth season.

Carla Banks Waddles is the showrunner and executive producer of Bel-Air. The cast of the series includes Jabari Banks, Olly Sholotan, Jimmy Akingbola, Cassandra Freeman, Adrian Holmes, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, and Jordan L. Jones. The final season is slated to premiere on November 24, 2025.

Bel-Air final season set to add nostalgia with Janet Hubert

Janet Hubert played the original Vivian Banks aka Aunt Viv on 'Fresh Prince' for three seasons. She was later replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid in the following seasons. Her alleged dispute with Will Smith and later departure from the show in 1993 was one of the more discussed news during the time. In the series, Aunt Viv plays the maternal figure who takes in her nephew Will and helps him navigate through the new life in Bel-Air.

Many other original cast members have been part of the Peacock series in different roles, including Reid who played the role of Helen in Season 1, Vernee Watson-Johnson played Janice in Season 1, Tatyana Ali played Mrs. Hughes in Season 2 and Joseph Marcell played Roman in Season 3.

As per Deadline, Hubert will play the role of a ‘wise woman’ who meets Hilary and becomes an important part of the Banks family story. Along with her, the final season will see Tyra Banks and Caroline Chikezie joining the cast in guest roles.

As per NBC, the official logline of Season 4 states,

“Will tries to balance the fun and excitement of senior year with the expectations that have brought him to this moment. Carlton tests his own resolve as he deals with the fallout of some very big decisions that could threaten his future. Together, both boys will help each other through this pivotal time in their lives.

An unexpected power shift will threaten the brotherhood between Phil and Geoffrey, whose loyalties to the Banks family will be tested. Viv struggles with reinventing herself as she looks at motherhood from a different perspective. It’s Ashley’s freshman year in high school and she’s working through a rebellious phase but quickly learns that the status quo may no longer serve her. Hilary goes on a journey of self-exploration.”

Bel-Air season 4 will premiere on Peacock on Monday, November 24, 2025, with 8 episodes.
