Black Rabbit starts off by immersing audiences in the tense relationship between brothers Jake and Vince Friedken. Even from the beginning, the show gives hints of the dangerous situation they are heading towards, weaving in family drama and suspenseful crime.

Vince is first introduced in Reno, Nevada, where he attempts to sell his father's coin collection. This sale goes wrong, and to no one's surprise, Vince ends up killing a man. Right after this shocking event, Vince travels to New York to visit his older brother Jake.

Jake, a successful and polished restaurateur, is surprised by his brother Vince’s arrival at an upscale restaurant, Black Rabbit. The reunion is tense and full of unresolved issues.

Various details, like the Father’s Day photograph from years ago, and his missing childhood coin collection, imply family issues and potential debts related to their father. Vince disrupts Jake’s carefully arranged life.

They argue, and Jake has to deal with family responsibilities he never intended to approach. While Vince is in debt and desperate, Jake has to confront whether to avoid trouble or take care of his brother.

By the end of the episode, the brothers are drawn into dangerous situations. Despite the bitterness between them, it's clear that Jake still cannot let go of Vince and wants to save him.
