NBC's American crime drama series Blindspot featured many mysteries throughout its five-season run, but Taylor Shaw's disappearance took the centre stage and plagued her friend Kurt Weller.

Taylor Shaw was Kurt Weller's best friend and next-door neighbour during his childhood. Born in Pennsylvania and raised by a single mother, she spent most of her time with Kurt and his father, Bill.

However, when Taylor was five years old and having a sleepover at Kurt's place, she disappeared and was never found again. It was later revealed that Bill Weller accidentally killed Taylor. However, he was not arrested for the crime because he had a strong alibi.

In Blindspot's present timeline, Taylor became an important part of Kurt's life as he believed that the mysterious woman with tattoos (Jane Doe) was his best friend from childhood, because the two shared a similar scar on their necks.

More on this in our story.

Blindspot: What happened to Taylor Shaw?

Taylor Shaw was Kurt Weller's closest friend in childhood and his next-door neighbor, who spent the majority of her day at his house in Blindspot.

Taylor even accompanied Kurt and his father, Bill Weller, on their camping trips, and the wooden shed in their backyard, which she called the Fort, was her favorite spot to play and hide in.

In Blindspot, Taylor's tragedy began one Sunday night when Bill hosted a dinner party. After the party, Kurt and Taylor went to their rooms, but when Kurt woke up in the middle of the night, Taylor was nowhere to be found.

Just as Kurt was looking for Taylor, he found his father sneaking back into their home, dusting off mud from his shoes. While Taylor was not found after that fateful day, Bill became the prime suspect in her disappearance. However, he was later let off the hook because of a strong alibi.

On his deathbed, Bill confessed to having killed Taylor when she was five years old, in an accident. He also revealed that he buried Taylor in her favorite spot. Following this, Kurt found one of Taylor's bones in the spot, confirming Bill's statement.

Blindspot: Was Jane really Taylor?

While Kurt saw Taylor's remains, he was still convinced that Jane Doe was Taylor when he spotted the unique scar on her neck (exactly like one that Taylor had).

Since Kurt was obsessed with finding Taylor, he had Patterson do a DNA test, which confirmed that Jane was indeed Kurt's childhood friend, Taylor. While Jane had no recollection of her memories, she believed that she was Taylor and formed a genuine relationship with Kurt.

However, an isotopic test revealed that Jane was born in Africa and not in Pennsylvania like Taylor, which confirmed that the scar was a mere coincidence and Taylor was in fact murdered by Bill Weller.

Since Kurt was not ready to accept the truth, he concealed the truth about Jane's identity from her in Blindspot and continued pretending that she was Taylor.

However, with time, this created problems for the couple and Kurt eventually arrested Jane after he discovered that she was pretending to be Taylor on Oscar's orders.
