The magic of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, lies not just in its story but in the effort behind it, and Yoona's dedication to portraying Yeon Ji-young with full authenticity proves it. The actress and singer from Girls' Generation Kpop group continues to rise in popularity, thanks to the role in her latest K-drama.

The show kicks off with Yeon Ji-young, played by Yoona, finally winning the biggest French cooking competition and about to live her dream of becoming the head chef of a Michelin restaurant. However, her life takes a drastic turn when Ji-young finds herself in the Joseon era.

Which means she traveled back in time, and to make it even more shocking, she lands during the worst time of the Joseon dynasty. Since she studied about a cruel King in history, Ji-young manages to survive.

However, soon after King Lee-heon realizes her cooking skills, he appoints her as the chief royal cook. And this is when Ji-young's true battle begins. She's expected to make a new dish every day, failing to which might result in the death penalty.

As the K-drama continues, Ji-young is seen preparing mouthwatering dishes for the King. Interestingly, Yoona herself worked on the dishes and took a six-month training from a five-star chef for basic to advanced skills.

Find out what the actress shared about her experience filming Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.

Lim Yoon-a has become one of the most talked-about South Korean actresses, not only because of her acting skills, but also the way she cooked in Bon Appétit, Your Majesty. In an interview, Yoona shared that people were surprised to see her cook so well. Per The Korea Times, she said:

"I didn’t know people would love it this much. Whenever I run into people, they say, ‘How can Daeryeong Sook-su cook so well?’ That’s when I realized the popularity."

The actress also shed light on her training from a five-star chef so that she can perform the scenes without a body double in the K-drama. Yoona said:

"Starting last summer, I studied cooking-related works for image training. From three months before filming, I went to culinary school to practice basic knife skills and Korean courses."

She added:

"I also received lessons in Western cuisine from a five-star hotel executive chef."

As for her time on the sets, Yoona reveals that her co-stars often debated on which dish tasted the best, especially while filming for the cook-offs: First between Ji-young and the royal chefs, then between Joseon and the Ming dynasty.

In the same interview, the Pretty Crazy star explained that her main aim as an actress is to deliver performances that feel real and relatable. With this role in Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, Yoona feels that her hard work and dedication, especially learning real cooking skills and training with a 5-star chef, have been noticed and appreciated.

In another interview, Yoona once again mentioned that most of her time last year was dedicated to shooting Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, and watching the K-drama end with just twelve episodes made her feel "both sad and grateful." Yoona said:

"I feel proud of the love the drama received, but at the same time, I don’t want to let it go quickly."

The Big Mouth star then talked about working with Lee Chae-min, who is much younger than her and is now a rising star. Yoona shared:

"Until now, I mostly worked with seniors or peers, but this was my first time acting alongside a younger partner. I did wonder how we could create good chemistry."

The chemistry between Ji-young and King Lee-heon was so good that even Yoona was amazed by it. And recently, the cast members sat during the special episode of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, and reacted to the romantic scene between the main characters. While Yoona managed to keep her reactions composed, Lee Chae-min was clearly shy.
