The young victim's remains were found inside a suitcase in a park. Danny and Lena are the officers looking into the case, and the latter suspects Senator Lowell. Early in her career, Lena was assigned the case of the murder of a s*x worker.She suspected Senator Lowell and obtained an arrest warrant with great difficulty, but the senator managed to wipe out the evidence of his involvement, letting him get away. But this case also taught Lena to be a respected detective in the Boston PD she is at the start of this CBS series. But the senator was always on her mind, as he was her white whale.This case makes Lena hopeful that she can finally bring down Lowell, and she is a bit tempted to bring him down by any means necessary. This could be because Dany's personality could've rubbed off on her from the previous six episodes as well. This is why she is initially ready to use unclear footage of a man moving the suitcase in which Claire's remains were found.But Dany suggests that the man in the footage could be someone of the senator's body type. Lena is a bit annoyed at first, but realizes that her personality and meticulousness rubbed off on Dany as well.
