Bridgerton fans are going to see a handful of familiar faces from its much-anticipated, much-acclaimed prequel. Netflix has greenlit the buzz on several major characters introduced in Queen Charlotte, officially appearing in Bridgerton Season 4.

The show is scheduled for its premiere in January 2026. The move will connect the flagship series and the limited prequel, bringing a sense of continuity to both stories. The breakout success of Bridgerton Seasons 1 and 2 is new to none. Queen Charlotte was created as a one-season prequel exploring the early life of the queen who rules high society in the main show.

Although Queen Charlotte does not appear in Julia Quinn’s original novels, she quickly became a fan favorite, prompting the creation of another show. Because the prequel was also set in London, it presented younger versions of characters that were already well-established. Now, their older counterparts are heading back into the spotlight.

Netflix is following the same release pattern used for Season 3, splitting Bridgerton Season 4 into two parts. Part 1 arrives on January 29, 2026, with four episodes, while Part 2, the remaining four episodes, will drop on February 26, 2026.

Queen Charlotte

Fans will be relieved to know that Queen Charlotte herself returns in the upcoming season. She has emerged as an icon from Bridgerton’s political and emotional landscape. With Penelope Featherington’s identity as Lady Whistledown now public knowledge, viewers may expect a new direction to their rivalry.

Charlotte relished the mystery of Whistledown’s true identity, and it’s unlikely the storyline ends simply because the secret is out. Queen Charlotte also revealed how the monarch met King George and formed bonds that contributed to her presence in the main series. She particularly accentuated Lady Danbury and Brimsley’s characters. Season 4 is set to build on that foundation.

Lady Agatha Danbury

Lady Danbury got one of her richest arcs in the prequel, diving into the arranged marriage and the resentment towards her spouse. She also shared a long-standing connection to Charlotte’s court. On one hand, the story of Lord Ledger unfolded, while on the other hand, the story of the father of Violet Bridgerton unfolded. This established a subtle link between the families.

While her exact role in Season 4 remains to be seen, a popular theory suggests she may take over the “fairy godmother” style occupied by Mrs. Gibbons in An Offer from a Gentleman. Since that book inspires Benedict Bridgerton’s upcoming storyline with Sophie Baek, fans are eager to see Danbury guide another generation.

Violet Bridgerton

A younger Violet Bridgerton features in Queen Charlotte, but the prequel also brings in a glimpse into the present-day dynamic with Lady Danbury. In Season 4, Violet may appear deeply involved in Benedict’s romantic arc. She may also continue her own budding interest in Marcus Anderson (Danbury’s brother). This ironic twist ties the two women together in a new way, especially after the prequel revealed Danbury’s feelings for Violet’s father.

Brimsley

Brimsley, Queen Charlotte’s loyal attendant, returns once again. His storyline in the prequel traced both his service to the queen and his bittersweet romance with Reynolds, shaped by the pressures of their era. In Season 4, he will remain Charlotte’s closest confidant.

Lady Whistledown

Although Penelope never appeared in Queen Charlotte, Julie Andrews’ narration as Lady Whistledown linked both projects. Andrews will return in Season 4, continuing to guide audiences even though Whistledown’s identity has been revealed.
