Season 4 is based on An Offer From a Gentleman, which is Bridgerton's third story in the series.The main characters of Season 4 include Benedict and Sophie Baek, a character played by Yerin Ha. Sophie is a maid who works for Lady Araminta Gun, a character played by Katie Leung. The two have their first interaction at a masquerade ball. With the help of his sister, Eloise, a character played by Claudia Jessie, Benedict tries to find his love interest's information, starting their romance.Teasing the story of Bridgerton Season 4, a statement released in a Tudum article reads:"When fate brings Benedict and Sophie back together, Benedict wrestles between the reality of his affection for this intriguing maid and the fantasy of the Lady in Silver — unaware that they are the same person. We get to watch a very headstrong young woman try to decide her fate for herself and pick up the courage to believe in and dream for a life greater than the one she currently has."According to Brownell, the lead male character, Benedict, lives in his own dream world, while his love interest, Sophie, is a maid whose life is much harder. She also gave a glimpse of what viewers can expect from Season 4, adding:"Benedict needs to be braver about committing and going after what he really wants and believes in.
