British thriller show Red Eye finds new streaming home this July- thanks to Hulu

Red Eye, the hit British thriller series, is coming to Hulu! The streaming platform recently released the trailer for Red Eye for the US audience. The show will stream on Hulu, starting July 22, 2025.

Season 1 of the series follows an all-night flight from London to Beijing, on which Detective Hana Li (played by Jing Lusi) is escorting a British man who is a murder suspect. However, things take a shocking turn after a passenger dies on the flight, and she finds herself caught in a conspiracy.

Red Eye was created by Peter A. Dowling, known for Flightplan and Reasonable Doubt. The series is written by Dowling and Jingan Young, and produced by Kristian Dench and Letitia Knight. Season 1 of the series comprises six episodes. Along with Lusi, the cast for the series includes Richard Armitage as Dr. Matthew Nolan, Jemma Moore as Jess Li, and Lesley Sharp as Madeline Delaney.

The action thriller series had premiered in the UK on ITV1 and ITVX in April 2024. With about 8 million viewers, it became the second-most-watched new drama. Sony Pictures Television later announced that the British series would be sold to more than 120 territories worldwide.

Mike Wald, Executive Vice President, International Distribution and Networks at Sony Pictures Television, shared his enthusiasm for taking the show to a global audience. As per The Hollywood Reporter, he said,

“The global response to Red Eye speaks to the high demand for compelling storytelling with broad appeal. This series absolutely delivers on exactly what audiences around the world are seeking– thrilling and fun television.”

Season 2 of Red Eye is already in the works with Lusi, Sharp, and Moore reprising their respective roles.

What is Red Eye about?

The British crime thriller series follows the story of Detective Hana Li, who is in charge of taking Dr. Matthew Nolan to Beijing for the murder of a Chinese woman. Dr. Nolan is arrested at Heathrow Airport just after he narrowly escapes his own death in a car crash in Beijing. A baffled Dr. Nolan reiterates that he was alone in the car crash and was shocked to learn that he was accused of killing a woman who was in the car as well.

On the night flight from London to Beijing, things start to unexpectedly unravel. With conspiracies, political influence, and intensifying drama, Hana finds herself amid an unforeseen storm.

The official synopsis of the Hulu series states,

“A red eye flight from London to Beijing becomes a thrilling journey after Dr. Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage) is arrested and accused of murdering a woman. Despite protesting his innocence, London Police Officer, DC Hana Li (Jing Lusi), is tasked with escorting Dr. Nolan back to Beijing to face charges — but after an incident occurs on-board, she finds herself embroiled in an escalating conspiracy.”

Red Eye is made by Bad Wolf and Sony Pictures Television. All episodes of the series will be available to stream on Hulu starting July 22, 2025.
