Conversations with a Killer is a highly popular true crime anthology series on Netflix, which has previously featured many infamous serial killers like Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy.
The latest chapter, titled Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes, will feature one of New York's most notorious and dangerous serial killers, David Berkowitz.
He was later called the Son of Sam serial killer after the pen name he used to sign the letters left at his crime scene for the police. He would also mail these said letters to media journalists, which made him a threatening and looming figure in the public eye.
The random crime of July 29, 1976, was just the beginning of a killing spree that ended in August 1977, after the authorities caught him following four more murders.
The trailer for Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes opens with a harrowing picture of Berkowitz's many victims, following the fear and frenzy that took over the New York streets. As the police began one of the biggest manhunts, people of New York lived in fear and anticipation as a new Son of Sam letter surfaced regularly.

Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes: What happened after the authorities caught David Berkowitz?

After almost a year of his killing spree, David Berkowitz was finally caught by the authorities in July 1977, where he confessed to all of his crimes. He was finally sentenced to six consecutive life sentences in prison in 1978, which he is still serving.
Initially dubbed the .44 Caliber Killer because of his weapon of choice, David Berkowitz was later famously known as the Son of Sam serial killer.
Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes' trailer also hints that the docuseries will explore the chilling and mysterious origins of his unique pen name, chosen by the serial killer himself.
At his court trial, David Berkowitz claimed that his neighbor's dog was named Sam, who was possessed by a demon and forced him to go on a killing spree.
This was one of the many lies and manipulations David Berkowitz spewed in front of the public and media, as Berlinger told Netflix Tudum:
“[Berkowitz] was a master manipulator of the media…he is emblematic of isolation, loneliness, feeling unimportant, and gaining importance through getting attention.''
