Netflix has launched the official trailer for Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes, the fourth chapter in the platform's true crime anthology docuseries, which will be released on July 30, 2025.

After uncovering many notorious serial killers like Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy, the upcoming three-part docuseries will investigate one of New York's most notorious and dangerous serial killers, David Berkowitz, who was also dubbed the .44 Caliber Killer (because of his weapon of choice) and the Son of Sam serial killer.

Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes is produced and directed by Emmy-winning and Academy Award-nominated director Joe Berlinger, who is a seasoned expert on true crime projects, having previously worked on Cold Case: Jon Benet Ramsey and Crime Scene: The Texas Killing Fields.

The Son of Sam Tapes will mark the fourth entry in Netflix's anthology series, which will uncover the chilling true story behind serial killer David Berkowitz's killing spree in 1976 New York.

Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes will investigate the chilling crimes of David Berkowitz, who began his killing spree on July 29, 1976, by attacking two teenage nurses, Donna Lauria and Jody Valenti, in their vehicle.

While Lauria was shot multiple times in the back and died on the scene, Valenti was wounded in the leg and survived the attack. This random crime was only the beginning of David Berkowitz's killing spree, as he went on to kill four more people by 1977.

David Berkowitz was later dubbed the Son of Sam serial killer after the pen name he used to sign his letters with, leaving them for police at the crime scenes. In addition, he also used to mail those signed letters to media journalists.

Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes' killer was finally arrested in August 1977, and after he confessed to all of his crimes, he was sentenced to six consecutive life sentences in prison in 1978, which he is still serving.
