ABC’s High Potential x 9-1-1 crossover isn’t official yet, but enthusiasm is rampant among the cast and production.
High Potential launched in September 2024 and immediately became ABC’s most-watched new show in the past six years. Soon, fans began wondering if there would be a potential crossover with 9-1-1 since both shows take place in Los Angeles and share a home network.
Fans are curious to know whether the two breakout dramas will cross paths. Both series have compelling storylines: 9-1-1 tracks the first responders of LA, and High Potential tracks detective consultant and single mom Morgan Gillory, as she aids the LAPD in difficult cases.
Fueling the speculation, 9-1-1 actress Jennifer Love Hewitt and High Potential showrunner, Todd Harthan, have stated their desire for a crossover, giving viewers plenty of fodder for ideas.
As of September 2025, High Potential is off to a successful start of Season 2, and 9-1-1, after shifting to ABC, continues to thrive, with Season 9 of the show set to premiere on October 9, 2025.
Could there be a High Potential and 9-1-1 crossover?

Right now, there are no official plans for a crossover. But several factors make it possible. Both shows are on ABC, set in the same version of Los Angeles, and have creative leads who are open to collaboration.
Jennifer Love Hewitt, who plays Maddie Han on 9-1-1, has said many times that she wants a crossover with High Potential. In an interview with Deadline, she said she is “obsessed” with Kaitlin Olson’s character, Morgan. She even suggested fun ideas, like Morgan visiting Maddie’s dispatch center and Maddie visiting Morgan’s office in another episode.
“They’re in L.A., and she’s always referencing dispatch. And I’m like, ‘She has got to come to the dispatch center, or I have to go to hers.’ Or I feel like we could do both, like one of their episodes could end with her coming to my dispatch center, and then I could enter her next episode. But I just need to work with that show. I just wanna be on that show. I think it could be so fun.”
Those sentiments generated buzz. As per the report by ScreenRant, Todd Harthan would be open to discussing a 9-1-1 ABC drama crossover. He was quoted as saying by the media outlet:
“I’ll tell you this: if Ryan Murphy ever recalls, I’m taking that call. But I’ve not talked to Ryan Murphy, and I’m a big fan of Jennifer Love Hewitt for a long time, dating all the way back before I was even writing in this business.”
He went on to add that since he has never done a crossover before, he is open to one if an opportunity arises for either 9-1-1 or The Rookie.
What makes High Potential a breakout hit?

High Potential began in September 2024 to critical acclaim from viewers and reviewers. It combines personal drama and police cases. Kaitlin Olson plays Morgan Gillory, a brilliant single mother who used to clean for the LAPD.
Her puzzle-solving ability enabled her to work on murder cases on a consulting basis. She partners with Detective Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), whose regard for her increases after observing her abilities.
Todd Harthan produced the series as a hybrid of crime and character drama. After attracting more than 13 million viewers in the first season, Season 2 came back on September 16, 2025. This time, it will be expanded to over 18 episodes.
Meanwhile, 9-1-1 Season 9 is set to premiere on October 9, 2025, at 8/7c on ABC.
