Matlock Season 2 is confirmed to premiere in October 2025. Season 2 of the legal drama is expected to be intense. Several secrets, especially those of WellBrexa documents, were revealed to be stolen by none other than Olympia’s ex-husband, Julian, played by Jason Ritter.

While talking about Julian's storyline, Ritter joked about wanting to have a crossover with another superhit CBS show, Tracker, starring Justin Hartley. He jokingly shared during an interview with US Weekly that he wants Harley’s character, Colter, and his character, Julian, to work together.

More on this in our story.

Jason Ritter jokes about a Matlock and Tracker crossover

Julian’s life would surely be a mess in Matlock Season 2. In Season 1, we saw that he was going through a divorce, and also had confessed to being unfaithful to Olympia during their marriage. In addition, the revelation that he is the one who stole the WellBrexa documents that could have saved Matty’s daughter will bring more drama in season 2 of the CBS show.

This might be a good time for Julian to get away from all the mayhem that is surely coming his way and be a part of a new journey. Joking about it, he shared that if Hartley’s lone-wolf survivalist needs a partner, Ritter’s Julian is up for it.

He quipped:

"If Tracker ever wants a partner [for Justin’s character, Colter], maybe Julian leaves the firm and he starts a new life. Just two rugged guys."

Both CBS shows will return to the screen in October 2025 with more intense storylines, but there's no crossover planned yet.

Matlock: Jason Ritter’s comments on his character

In the same interview, Ritter also talked about how Matlock Season 2 is crucial for his character, Julian, who will have to face the consequences of all the wrongdoings that he committed in Season 1. He revealed how his character is struggling with the thought of dealing with all the mess that he created, leaving him anxious.

He shared:

"Julian was in the middle of a divorce, but he was going through his life with his skeletons safely in his closet. Now, with the affair coming out — and then with the other big reveal coming out — he’s in a new boat. There is no pretending with [his ex-wife] Olympia anymore. Or compartmentalizing and putting [things] away in a dark and shameful drawer."

He further added:

"Julian is going to have to grapple — one way or another — with this. It’s such a shameful thing that he has just put it away, tried to be a good dad and focused on his family. Now, he is grappling with the ramifications of what he did. Also he’s terrified."
