Countdown Episode 6, titled A Needle or a Bullet, is all about team bonding, nerve-wracking operations, high-speed chases through the deserts, intense interrogation sequences, and a dead-end search for the name 'Gallagher'. Volchek is now gearing up for his long-awaited attack on the United States while the task force still seems to be struggling with leads.

In contrast to the previous ones, Countdown Episode 6 is more like a buildup to something more intense that is yet to come as Mark Meachum battles his health condition to stay in his best form. On the other hand, Iosif Astapov from the Belarusian Consulate has reached out to Volchek asking him to withdraw his terrorist plot against America, and now, even his life is at stake. But what is Gallagher all about, and how is the name related to Volchek? Let's find out more.

Oliveras and Meachum finally start to bond with each other in Countdown Episode 6, and Astapov confronts Volchek, but all in vain

Countdown Episode 6, A Needle or A Bullet, has finally found a deeper connection to replace Oliveras and Meachum's bittersweet relationship. Right at the start of the episode, the pair is seen practising at a shooting range where Oliveras is stunned by Meachum's accuracy and, in a tone of amusement (and praise), mentions that she'd want him by her side while they are "in a firefight".

Later in Countdown Episode 6, right before going on an operation, Oliveras spots Meachum rubbing his eyes and head in pain, and this time, she becomes hell bent to get to the bottom of what exactly is her colleague going through. In an emotional exchange of words, Oliveras reveals a story from her past undercover mission.

Meachum learns that she was held at gunpoint by mobsters and forced to inject drugs into her body (hence the name of this episode). She also reveals that she got help to get clean, but the thought of using again still bothers her sometimes. In turn, Oliveras asks for the truth from Mark and senses that he is lying, trying to hide things. However, to much surprise, Meachum comes up with a fake story of migraines and assures Oliveras that he is on prescribed medication.

One lead after another for the task force finally leads to a high-intensity pursuit in Countdown Episode 6

Struggling to find any lead with the name 'Gallagher', Agent Shepherd, with the help of young FBI officer Keyonte Bell, manages to dig up some crucial information. One of the opening scenes in Countdown Episode 6 at the headquarters reveals that a man named Shawn Gallagher might be the potential link to Volchek's whereabouts.

So, Meachum and Oliveras go down to meet his parole officer, and that brings up another lead - Shawn is currently stationed at a place called Highland Park, and they pay a visit. But things do not go as expected and Oliveras nearly gets trapped while entering the house whose address they got from the parole officer.

It appears that it has been vacant for weeks, with nothing but death traps set all around. Disappointed, Oliveras and Mark head back to their operating base. However, thanks to Agent Evan Shepherd's tech skills, the task force comes across another name - Wade Tripett, who would very often visit Shawn Gallagher while he was behind bars.

Upon further investigation, it is learnt that Trippet works at Mid-Welshire shopping mall. And thanks to Luke and Bell's able questioning that Trippet shares details about his encounters with Gallagher in prison. Countdown Episode 6 reveals that Trippet was just his AA sponsor at first.

He also mentioned that Gallagher got involved in some shady business after coming out of imprisonment, and the two haven't been in touch ever since. However, Luke and Bell manage to get Gallagher's present location from Wade, and it comes to light that our subject is located in Needles, California.

On the other hand, Volchek is confronted by Astapov at the beginning of Countdown Episode 6. The latter assured him that if he stays clear of any type of terrorist involvement, he'll make sure that Volchek will be welcomed back to his country without any restrictions. But Volchek is not the one to break easily until his mission is successful. He orders his team to track every movement of Astapov to find the perfect place to strike him.

However, Volchek is a smart man, and he became suspicious that there was a mole in his team. To find out who it is, Volchek mentioned to his team members (Andrej, Radoslav, Danill, and Vadim) in four different locations from Astapov's daily routine (that he always follows), saying he'd pick them up from that place.

As it turned out, Astapov was there at each of these locations like he always does, except one. That made it clear that he already had information about Volchek sneaking him on him - the mole in the team (Danill) is finally revealed and eliminated in Countdown Episode 6.

After getting information from Wade, the task force gets all hands on deck to pull Shawn Gallagher out of his shady Californian desert trailer park. When the team reaches the spot, Gallagher seems to be MIA.

However, Meachum (without any hesitation) goes inside to double-check, and that's when the trailer is set in motion. Meachum struggles to keep his balance, and as it appears, Gallagher was hiding inside his car, which was docked to the trailer.

What follows is a highly intense chase through the Southern Californian desert with our protagonist Mark Meachum heroically bouncing from the roof of one vehicle to another. Finally, he can break inside the car and almost knocks Gallagher out while Bell runs the big black SUV right into them from one side. Oliveras helps to block the other side, and the person of interest is finally arrested.

Gallagher gets caught, but is it actually a person?

As Countdown Episode 6 nears its closing moment, Shawn Gallagher is taken back to the FBI Headquarters, where the team tries to break him open with full force. He admits to his previous crimes, but apparently, the names Timur Novakov and Volchek make no sense to him or ring a bell. Nathan Blythe himself tries to interrogate him, but it all goes in vain - it thus becomes evident that the task force has landed the wrong. Or maybe Gallagher is not a person at all.

It's at this point that the scene shifts to Volchek's current secret base, and trucks of cargo are seen entering the location. And the name printed on the number plates reads 'Gallagher Freight' - most probably a transport organization that is working with Volchek on his operation to blow up the state.

However, Blythe's team is still left without a clue as to what is going on. The clock is ticking, Meachum is getting more susceptible to his illness, and Volchek's plot is continuously gaining traction. Will the task force be able to stand as a barrier between Volchek's plans and America? Only time will tell what bigger challenge lies ahead for the task force.
