Criminal Minds Season 6 turns the tension up in Episode 22, 'Out of the Light,' as the BAU heads to a pretty town in North Carolina, but to a town hiding a brutal secret. What starts with a terrifying escape off a cliff quickly turns into a desperate hunt for two young women.

One is badly injured and holding on to dear life, the other is still in the hands of a calculating predator. The race to find her pushes the team into unfamiliar territory, both geographically and emotionally.

Criminal Minds Season 6 episode 22: Darkness beneath a sunny town

Criminal Minds Season 6 episode 22 wastes no time throwing us into utter danger. In a small tourist town, a dirt-covered young woman runs through dense woods before crashing onto a roadside below. When local law enforcement realizes her injuries point to abuse, the BAU is finally called in.

Hotch, back from his weekend break, joins the rest of the team in Lake Worth. Garcia's briefing soon draws on an unsettling picture: Years earlier, a Jane Doe with creepily similar wounds was found nearby.

This suggests a possible repeat offender with a ground being covered between tourist shops and lake views. The survivor remains unconscious, offering no details, but her escape likely means the criminal is already looking for a new victim.

Soon after, the second missing woman comes into play. 19-year-old Marcy Owens vanished while on a road trip with her friend Angela, who may be the survivor in the hospital. Both cases tie together, forcing the BAU to work fast before the time to save Marcy ends up in a close.

Following the trail of secrets

While some look around the area, others dig into the survivor's words because what sounded like "he has mercy" turns out to be her saying "he has Marcy." Those chilling words reframe the entire case. Out in the woods, Morgan stumbles on fresh graves, each containing remains of young blonde women.

Forensics suggests these graves could date back a complete decade, painting the unsub as a long-term predator who targets a specific victim type.

The investigation briefly focuses on Marcus Talbot, a high school art teacher with a shady past. Suspicious photographs, a darkroom, and connections to victims point his way, yet something doesn't fit right. Reid and Rossi suspect Talbot's role is more complicated and perhaps even being set up by someone who knows his routines and has access to his property.

Meanwhile, Criminal Minds Season 6 episode 22 has Marcy trapped in a grim, basement-like room under the watch of a man named Robert Bremmer. A cafe owner and stained glass artist, Bremmer masks his obsession behind a facade of community ties.

His connection to Talbot, his past tragedies, and his twisted attachment to a young girl named Rose are all eerily similar to Marcy from the final pieces of the puzzle.

The final push to save Marcy

As Garcia finds out Bremmer's history of abuse and loss, the urgency spikes with Criminal Minds Season 6 episode 22. Bremmer's fixation on re-creating Rose's image explains his targeting of blonde teenage girls. The BAU tracks him to his barn, but by then he's already on the move, planning a murder/suicide to "be together forever" with Marcy.

What follows is a tense search that ends at a lake, the same way Rose died. Bremmer drives straight into the water with Marcy in the passenger seat. Morgan dives in, fights him off, and brings Marcy safely back to the surface. CPR brings her back, mirroring the opening scene similarly.

Criminal Minds Season 6 episode 22 ends with Bremmer dead, Marcy safe, and the unsettling revelation that Talbot still possesses the photos, hinting that his story isn't over. Away from the darkness, Hotch finds a lighter moment, agreeing to coach Jack's soccer team with Rossi as his assistant.

Criminal Minds Season 6 delivers one of its most nerve-wracking chases in 'Out of the Light.' The mix of small-town charm and deep-rooted evil keeps the tension sharp, while the layered suspect pool forces the BAU to think fast.

In the end, Criminal Minds Season 6 episode 22 wasn't just about catching the predator, but it is about racing the clock to keep another victim from becoming a memory.
