Culinary Class Wars Season 2 just did something no fan expected and honestly something that no one wanted. Son Jong-won, the White Spoon chef many fans were rooting for, was eliminated just when the competition was getting good and serious.

The decision for fans came in like a punch, and they felt betrayed, blindsided, frustrated, and more. A tiny technical slip is what ended his run in the competition, and the internet, or rather in this case, the Redditors, did not keep their mouths shut about it. Just like with any social-media discussion, Redditors turned the site into a full-on vent zone overnight.

A paper-thin call sent Son Jong-won home on Culinary Class Wars Season 2

Watching Son Jong-won being eliminated from Culinary Class Wars Season 2 felt extremely unreal because he had been steady all season and he rarely put a wrong foot out. The final 1:1 survival match placed him against the so-called Culinary Monster, and even the judges admitted the call for elimination was extremely close.

Paik Jong-won initially leaned toward Son's plate, but Ahn Sung-jae stepped in after noticing a small issue in the sauce. Son added cognac late in the process, which slightly diluted the flavor and shifted the final call made by the judges.

The judges still described the gap as an extremely close margin, which made the loss of SJW sting even more for fans who felt like he deserved to have a longer run, and maybe even win Culinary Class Wars Season 2.

Fans on Reddit went into full-on vent zone overnight for the same. User (@whenwillmyskincare) started the conversation via. Reddit by saying:

"This episode was indeed a bit hard to watch as a Son Jong Won fan, but we shouldn’t deny the fact that CM is a formidable opponent and truly deserves the ‘Best Black Spoon’ title this season. It’s just a shame that SJW got eliminated early, despite being one of the best White Spoons in both team and individual events. We could’ve had them as the top two chefs competing in the finale. It was truly disappointing."

Another Reddit user (@wetburritoo) added:

"Some of the top 7 picks were lackluster... if only SJW got to be part of the top 7, it would have made it much more entertaining to watch imo. At least then we can watch him and CM have a showdown."

Fans on Reddit say Season 2 of Culinary Class Wars feels predictable now

The backlash once Son Jong-won was eliminated only grew once episodes 11 and 12 confirmed the final Top 7 contestants on Culinary Class Wars Season 2. Fans had already been breaking down clips from interviews and looking at tiny hints online, and so the elimination felt both shocking.

With SJW now eliminated, the show has moved into the semi-final round, shifting away from simple survival matches into multi-challenges that would be testing consistency and proper planning in times of stress. On paper, the semi-final sounds exciting, but fans aren't ready to move on from the elimination of fan-favorite chef Son Jong-won either way.

Some fans on Reddit claim that they have flat-out lost interest in watching the show further. Reddit user @Arcelynb wrote:

"Actually turned off after after 5 mins of ep11. Kind of obvious now who is going to win the whole thing"

Another user, @abcchin, shared:

"Minutes into the latest episode and I am no longer interested to watch. if they put SJW into top 3 then this show def has got some wow factor. Sad to say, wasted opportunity nothing to look forward anymore coz it's literally predictable now."

The strongest reaction came again from @whenwillmyskincare, who wrote:

"I was a fan of the previous season too, but I found myself watching Season 2 solely for SJW...This season is indeed underwhelming, and it has completely lost its spark. I wonder what the production team was thinking by not preparing properly for this season, especially knowing how great the first season was. I hope they get the backlash they deserve. I am truly upset."

Culinary Class Wars Season 2 is still moving forward into the semi-final round, but the hit from SJW's elimination has clearly upset the fan base. The judges have stood by their decision, yet fans are struggling to reconnect with the show without one of their favorites and most loved chefs.

Whether or not the remaining rounds can bring excitement back up again, SJW is surely being missed.
