Destination X Season 1 Finale: Three finalists compete to win the ultimate title and prize pot

Three finalists saw iconic landmarks from London in their goggles. However, they were confused and thought about what tricks the show's host, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, might be playing on them. When their goggles were removed, they were standing in the Painter Hall, located in Greenwich. There were many paintings, including those of eliminated participants.

Before the finale, Rick confessed that he wanted to win the prize pot for his family. Another finalist, Biggy, also talked about his plan to travel with his grandma. Third finalist Peter shared he wanted to settle down close to his family.

Soon, the Destination X host revealed that only two of the participants would advance to the finale. After a series of exciting questions, Rick was safe while Peter and Biggy were tied to the same spot. The host then asked a question and mentioned that the closest answer to the right answer would win.

The tie-breaking question was:

"You cut Ally and Jana loose in Venice. How many islands is Venice made up of?"

Biggy said 210 while Peter said 27. The correct answer was 118, meaning Peter was the closest. Biggy was eliminated, and Peter joined Rick in the Destination X finale. While leaving the show, Biggy confessed to the cameras about how he was shocked by Rick's behavior.

The next day on the show, finalists Peter and Rick saw themselves on the London Eye through their goggles. The host pointed out some of the iconic monuments, including Saint Paul's Cathedral, the Palace of Westminster, and the Tower of London.

He then revealed the finale challenge, which was a game board featuring $250,000 hidden under London's iconic landmarks. Each finalist had two envelopes. Each of them contained a riddle which they had to decipher.

After correctly deciphering, they would reach the destination and receive another clue. The envelopes were marked:

  1. Rome, Money is Power,
  2. Geneva, Fire & Ice.

They chose the first envelope, which mentioned the riddle about a well "full of coins" and a "trip to a tower."

With both answering correctly, they received the next clue. After solving that, they got a second clue and the last riddle. The remaining time was one hour. With more correct answers leading to more clues, both Peter and Rick reached the final question.

After they placed their X for the last time, the show host announced that the next time they would get their goggles on, one of them would be at the Destination X with the prize money. Peter and Rick were standing in their locations and opened their briefcase. With the correct answer, Rick's case contained the prize money, and he won the show.

After winning the competition, Rick opened up to Jeffrey. He talked about getting his family a home after they had to sell it during COVID to pay off a debt.
