Dexter: Resurrection is doing something we didn’t quite expect. The show has leaned hard into its post-New Blood vibe. It's getting darker, moodier, and more psychological. We’re watching a Dexter who isn’t just killing for the Code anymore. He’s hurting, searching, unraveling.
Episode by episode, the stakes have grown more and more personal. Episode 4 gets straight into the twisted and glittering underworld of serial killer fandom. Dexter finds himself at a literal killer party, mixing up with real serial killers. He is impersonating one himself.
Dexter’s being pulled into a larger and more twisted game now. This episode introduces us to fascinating new faces like Mia, aka Lady Vengeance, and Leon Prater, played by the phenomenal Peter Dinklage. He plays a sinister collector of serial killer memorabilia with motives still unknown.
Here's the recap of Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4.
Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4 recap — The serial killer soirée
Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4 ramps things up with a party, blood slides, old ghosts, and an emotional reunion. From Dexter playing pretend as "Red" to Angel Batista closing in on the truth, the stakes have never been higher.
We open with Dexter having fully assumed the identity of "Red" or Dark Passenger. He’s even gone as far as cutting off the man’s thumb to replicate his fingerprint. Harry is against Dexter attending a serial killer party, suspecting a trap. But, naturally, Dexter doesn’t listen and joins Charley, who believes him to be Ronald "Red" Schmidt.
The party takes place in a grand mansion. Fancy cars are parked out front, and it’s an invitation-only, thumbprint-exclusive kind of party. Dexter barely gets past the fingerprint scanner on his third try.
Once inside, we meet the host: Leon Prater, played by the magnificent Peter Dinklage. Leon’s a billionaire venture capitalist who has a very niche obsession with collecting serial killer memorabilia. We’re talking everything from John Wayne Gacy’s clown costume to Jeffrey Dahmer’s fridge. Oh, and Arthur Mitchell’s hammer and the table where Dexter’s brother Brian, aka Ice Truck Killer, died. Leon also teases the presence of real serial killers at the party in Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4.
Dexter mingles with the other guest-killers. First up is Mia, aka Lady Vengeance. She is a killer of sex predators. She has an actual code, which Dexter notices immediately. Their conversation makes it clear she’s not just another monster. She’s possibly someone Dexter starts to respect. Maybe even like. It’s one of the most compelling introductions so far in the series, and there’s a potential spark here that might complicate things later in Dexter: Resurrection.
Then we meet Al, the happy-go-lucky family guy with massive glasses who collects women’s hair. Opposite him is the brooding Lowell, known as The Tattoo Collector. Meanwhile, Dexter’s inner voice (his father's ghost), Harry, keeps questioning whether he’s going to kill someone from the party.
The Gemini Killer eventually arrives late, but we only get a hint of what’s to come from him. There’s definitely more in store for that character in upcoming episodes. Lowell, in particular, sets off Dexter’s internal radar. He’s showing off photos of women he’s stalking and even hints at his next target. Dexter identifies him as a potential kill in Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4.
Lowell doesn’t get far. Just when he’s about to use anesthesia on his next victim, Dexter interrupts and whisks him away to his version of the ER, aka his kill zone. There, Dexter returns to old habits, creating his first new blood slide and revealing to Lowell that he’s not "Red" but The Bay Harbor Butcher. Lowell, confident until the end, finally shows fear.
Back in the car, Harry warns him that if Lowell doesn’t show up at the next gathering, suspicions will grow. Dexter knows he’s on borrowed time.
Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4 — The past closes in
Meanwhile, in Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4, Angel Batista has tracked Dexter’s car and is now in New York. He reconnects with Harrison, pretending to be friendly, but he clearly suspects something. When Elsa sees Batista’s badge, she rushes to him to say Harrison had nothing to do with Ryan’s murder. That's a reveal that Batista didn’t see coming but is now very curious about.
Two detectives also show up later to inquire about Ryan Foster’s case, and Batista jumps in to point out similarities between that murder and the Bay Harbor Butcher’s methods. This is a big turning point.
Harrison, now drowning in guilt and unsure who to trust, has a sweet but ultimately painful moment with Elsa. He tries to make a move, only to be friend-zoned. He walks away dejected, while Dexter continues to rationalize his new associations with active killers in Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4.
The next day, Batista confronts Harrison again. He expresses hope that the son won’t follow the father’s dark path. That clearly hits Harrison hard. He starts to seriously consider turning himself in. But just when he walks toward the police station to do so, he feels a hand on his shoulder. Father and son are finally back together.
Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4 is a turning point. Not just for Dexter, but for the people orbiting him. We finally get a glimpse of his darker instincts resurfacing, yet there’s a tenderness in how he’s interacting with Mia, which complicates the picture.
Peter Dinklage’s Leon Prater is a highlight, and this episode of Dexter: Resurrection teases so much more from his character. Harrison’s internal conflict is deepening, and Batista’s presence is a time bomb waiting to go off. Now that Dexter and Harrison are face-to-face again, Dexter: Resurrection Episode 5 promises a collision of past secrets and present dangers.
