The Amazing Race Season 37's married couple and finalists, Ana and Jonathan, showed a remarkable run throughout the race. Despite their occasional differences of opinion and behavioral issues, the couple was one of the strongest teams on the show.
If they had been involved in a little less verbal issues, and would Jonathan had taken the opportunity to take on the final tasks, the outcome might have been entirely different. One of the key points that turned the finale was when Ana went to perform the finale water-based tasks. And of course, a lot less navigation issues would also have helped the couple towards a potential win.
Throughout The Amazing Race Season 37, Ana and Jonathan have delivered incredible results. Out of the total 12 legs of the show, the duo has finished the leg in the Top 3 multiple times. Of all those times, they were the first ones to finish three times.
Such an incredible and consistent performance led me to believe that Ana and Jonathan had a strong chance of winning the race.
The Amazing Race Season 37: Ana and Jonathan's impressive performance throughout the show
Since the race begin from the US to Hong Kong (leg 1), Ana and Jonathan have been one of the strong teams. They were second to win the first leg, out of the seven teams. Taking such a lead in the early stage, they proved they were not the team to mess with.
In the second episode of The Amazing Race Season 37, once again, Ana and Jonathan provided their dominance by arriving first at the pit stop. While winning the sumo wrestling Detour and showing coordination, the husband and wife duo were slowly becoming fan favorite.
However, the issues between the two, shown throughout the show, resulted in fans supporting Ana, rather than them as a team.
Fourth and ninth legs, again, the duo topped the charts as they arrived first at their final Pit stop. The fourth leg featured Japan-Indonesia while Ana performed the Roadblock task. For the ninth leg, the race took place in Bulgaria-Italy, and there, too, Ana was the one who took on the Roadblock challenge.
Fans witnessed The Amazing Race Season 37 couple winning the Driver's Seat advantage during the fourth episode. With that, they were given a chance to allot rice threshing based on different weights to their fellow teams.
The duo's performance, specifically Ana's performance during the ninth episode, showed her extraordinary skills. After finishing the pizza-making challenge, they were able to finish first and arrive first at the pit stop. It won them a trip to Mexico City.
Despite everything Ana and Jonathan achieved and showcased throughout The Amazing Race Season 37, they failed to win the race. Why? There are a few factors that didn't play out well for them during the last leg.
One of the key moments was the navigational issue. Fans have often witnessed the teams losing their navigation and getting on the wrong path. That led Ana and Jonathan to spend more time finding the correct path. Additionally, despite her fear of the water, she took on the finale water-based tasks, which definitely showed how she wanted to overcome her fears, but that cost them more time.
That might have been one of the reasons they took more time to reach the final destination and came in third place.
Fans can now catch all the action from The Amazing Race Season 37 on CBS.
