Chae Kook-hee's Seon-nyeo (Player 044) was definitely one of the most interesting new players introduced in Squid Game Season 2.

A Korean shaman, whose glorious days of fame were far over, Seon-nyeo was seen cursing and intimidating other players about their futures in Season 2. While the players hardly paid heed to her blabbering, some threatened folks believed her prophecies and became her followers in the game.

While she largely harmed her credibility with tall claims, especially after she abandoned her followers during the hide-and-seek game in Squid Game Season 3, she shockingly predicted Gi-hun's tragic fate back in Season 2.

More on this in our story.

The shaman (Player 044) had predicted Gi-hun's fate in Squid Game Season 2

During Mingle, one of the most popular games in Season 2, Gi-hun and his group briefly took Player 044, the shaman, into their room to complete their number for the round. That is when Seon-nyeo predicted Gi-hun's fate and prophesied his larger purpose in the games for Season 3.

While her tall claims/prophecies were often seen with suspicion by the other players (and the audience), many of the Shaman's predictions came true in Squid Game Season 3, especially Gi-hun's larger purpose.

During the Mingle game, seeing Jun-hee's pregnant belly, the shaman prophesied about Gi-hun, saying:

''So there's a reason you've lived longer than you were destined to. There's a reason you were brought here.''

While this sounded cryptic before, it makes perfect sense after the Squid Game Season 3 finale. Gi-hun participated in the games in Season 1 and barely made it to the final games. However, he defied all odds and was the only player who left the island alive.

The second season started with Gi-hun deciding to re-enter the games, but after the failed players' revolt and the death of his friend, Jung-bae, he lost that purpose in the Season 2 finale.

Season 3 started with a defeated Gi-hun, who had no fighting spirit left in him. However, when he saw Jun-hee's swollen ankle and her newborn baby, their safety became his newfound purpose in the games.

While Jun-hee threw herself off the platform during the jump rope game, she bequeathed her newborn daughter to Gi-hun, who ultimately sacrificed himself and saved Jun-hee's baby in the Squid Game Season 3 finale.

When even her father (Myung-gi) threatened to kill her, Gi-hun was the only hope for the baby, who kept her alive till his last breath, thus fulfilling his "reason" and purpose as the shaman had predicted in Season 2.

In addition to Gi-hun's fate, the shaman also rightfully predicted Player 100's death, who tricked her in the Hide and Seek game in Squid Game Season 3. While the shaman smartly navigated Player 100 towards the exit in the game, he closed the door on her, leading to her elimination.

However, before a player stabbed her to death, the shaman cursed Player 100 with a painful death:

''The Gods of heaven and Earth will smash your skull, shatter your spine and pulverize all your organs.''

Again, what looked like a frustrating mix of words came true after Myung-gi threw Player 100 from the tower, thus smashing his skull, and he died a painful death indeed.
