The American fantasy-adventure show Willow premiered on Disney+ on November 30, 2022, right after the huge hit movie of the same name that came out in 1988. The show takes fans back to the magical world of the original movie, where there are strange animals, strange landscapes, and exciting experiences.
The famous Warwick Davis came back to the series to play Willow Ufgood, the part he played in the movie. In this new part, Willow leads a group of different adventurers on a dangerous journey to find her kidnapped twin sister. The mission is full of danger and evil magic.
Ruby Cruz, who plays Willow, recently spoke out against the show's cancellation and removal from Disney+. She acknowledged that it was distressing, but she was thankful for the experience and the ongoing support for her character, Kit. Cruz called it an experience of a lifetime.
Disney’s Willow star is opening up about the show
Ruby Cruz recently discussed her time on Willow. It is a unique Disney+ fantasy series that was canceled after one season. It was then eventually deleted from the site. In a candid interview, she revealed that the decision was tough, but she decided to be grateful for the experience, the character she played, and the connection people still have with her.
Cruz expressed her gratitude that people are still contacting her with anecdotes about the positive impact her character, Kit, has had on their lives.
Prior to landing well-known parts in Castle Rock and Blue Bloods, Cruz's acting career started with short films like Aging Out and The Jump. Many people like her portrayal of Jess Riley in Mare of Easttown.
Willow's portrayal of the ferocious and devoted Kit Tanthalos was a major turning point. Cruz continued her gradual ascent in Hollywood with her latest appearance in the 2023 movie Bottoms.
More about Willow
Willow takes place over twenty years after the downfall of Queen Bavmorda in the original film. In a perilous mission to save Kit's twin brother, Airk, and face the rising danger posed by the wicked Gales, six unexpected heroes- Willow, Princess Kit, Jade (a knight-in-training), Elora Danan (posing as a maid), and others--set off on a perilous journey.
In addition to Warwick Davis, Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Tony Revolori, and Amar Chadha-Patel, the cast also features Ellora Danan, Princess Kit, Erin Cruz, and Jade, and a lot of people were talking about the program because of the way it represented diversity: the same-sex romance between Kit and Jade.
In terms of production value, the first season of Willow had eight episodes. After just one season, the program was terminated in March 2023. However, there were rumors that scripts for a second season, sometimes called "Volume II," were already done. As part of a larger effort to minimize costs, Disney deactivated Willow from the Disney+ streaming library in May 2023.
