Does Bailey get pregnant in The Rookie? Details from the ABC police procedural, explored

One of the major plot points of The Rookie Season 7 was the definitive ending that the show brought to the attempts of Bailey and Nolan to be parents. It was already established that Bailey could not get pregnant because of certain biological issues and then the couple decided to try for adoption.

However, The Rookie Season 7 Episode 13, titled Three Billboards made it clear that the couple’s dream of becoming parents would not be fulfilled. Their adoption request is rejected and they are told that the chances of them being considered for adoptive parents are really low given how demanding their jobs are.

Bailey never gets pregnant in The Rookie

Bailey and Nolan try all the possible options for having kids in The Rookie. Given Bailey’s biological limitations with defective fallopian tubes, the couple considers IVF and when that does not work out, they decide to go for adoption. Unfortunately, that also seems to be a blind lane for them given their tough schedules.

Talking about bringing the baby-desiring arc of Bailey and Nolan to an end, showrunner Alexi Hawley told ScreenRant,

“I think that's a road, sadly, with a lot of low points for them. But I think that's also a reality for lots of people. The part, [especially], where they couldn't have a kid biologically was very recognizable.”

Alexi further added,

“I do think that, at the end of the day, just the sheer volume of near-death experiences that they both have on the daily… obviously, first responders can adopt, so we're not saying that, but [it’s] the reality of their unique situation. But I think they've come through it and, for now at least, have made their peace with [the fact] that it’s just the two of them.”

While accepting the fact that they won’t be able to have a child was quite difficult for the couple, Nolan and Bailey share a strong relationship and have gone through many difficult times that only helped to strengthen their bond. Since Bailey was in an abusive marriage previously, it was hard for the couple to try and live together peacefully. However, they ultimately got over the initial troubles and got married as well.

Talking about how their relationship will be functioning going forward, Jenna Dewan, the actor who plays Bailey, told US Weekly,

“Right now, we’re focusing on that — the healing and their love.”

Moreover, at the end of Season 6, after Bailey’s ex-husband Jason had broken out of prison, she had hired a hitman to get him killed. However, Jason was shot dead before the hitman Malvado could act. The hitman was also killed off in Season 7, Episode 14. Therefore, while Bailey’s secret is safe for now, it remains to be seen how it can impact her relationship with Nolan and her career in case it ever comes out.
