Netflix's latest animated horror comedy Haunted Hotel has been the talk of the town since its premiere this week. The show has successfully recreated spooky themes of cult classic like The Shining, with funny elements dominating the plot.
The story is about a hotel named Undervale, which appears to be not an ordinary one - it is a place where worldly beings co-exist with the supernatural. The owner of the hotel, Katherine, gets the property through inheritance from her dead brother, Nathan and makes up her mind to run the place along with her two kids (despite all the conundrums).
However, this bittersweet journey of Katherine and her family almost lands them in life-threatening trouble until a good demon called Abaddon comes to the rescue. Keep reading to find out how the spirit helps Katherine and her kids survive an apocalypse in the Haunted Hotel Season 1 finale.
Abaddon uses his powers to save Katherine and her kids in Haunted Hotel Season 1 finale
Katherine and her kids Esther and Ben initially struggle a lot to find their way around the "Haunted Hotel". They are accompanied by the spirit of Katherine's dead brother Nathan, and the two children seem to be fascinated by the supernatural stuff, which gives them an urge to learn more about their world.
Nathan guides Esther and Ben while Katherine finds a little comfort in her somewhat broken family, which eventually becomes the only motivation for her to keep going on with the business. While on their spooky adventures, Ben and Esther come across a demon named Abaddon, who soon forms a strong bond with the family.
Abaddon protects his human friends, and the latter in turn, show their gratitude by being kind to him during tough times. However, things go awry in Haunted Hotel when the red-cloaked entities arrive at Undervale and demand to speak to Abaddon (whom they refer to as their "Lord").
As it turns out, the mysterious beings, aka The Acolytes of Abaddon are a cult group, and their leader, Todd, reveals that they have come to take Abaddon home. In order to do so, they need to perform a ritual to crown the good demon as their king and take him back home.
But in a shocking turn of events in the Haunted Hotel Season 1 finale, Todd sacrifices himself during the demonic ritual, and Abaddon's lost powers are eventually restored. The latter is seen levitating in the air as he gets bestowed with supernatural abilities, but sadly, it turns out to be the start of an apocalypse.
Hell is unleashed on the human world, and Katherine and her close ones face the beginning of the end. Amidst meteor showers, earthquakes and pits of boiling lava tearing the ground apart they try to find a way out. Abaddon uses all his strength and newly vested powers to save them, but unfortunately, Katherine and her kids do not make it out alive.
Abaddon gets devastated by this loss, as they have been nothing but kind and loving to him since they arrived at Undervale. So, Abaddon finds a way to travel back in time to change the course of events - thanks to a mysterious magical relic that makes it possible.
He also realizes that he needs to stop the ritual of the red-cloaked men to save Katherine and her kids' lives because that is the point where Abaddon gets his powers back leaving the world under the shadow of the apocalypse. So, the good demon surfs back in time and reaches the point where The Acolytes of Abaddon make their first appearance at Undervale.
Abaddon goes violent on the cult group, attacks all of them and scares the group away so that they do not even get a chance to start the ritual. Using his presence of mind in the Haunted Hotel Season 1 finale, Abaddon not only sacrifices his regained powers to save three human beings but also proves his loyalty towards the family that has always given him love.
