Sullivan's Crossing premiered its third season on May 14, 2025 and picked up the storyline right from where season 2 had left off. Since the finale of Sullivan's Crossing Season 2, fans were worried about Sully’s fate and the first episode of season 3 reveals that Sully did survive the fire and is alive.
However, the first episode of Sullivan's Crossing does not provide the details of how Sully managed to get out of the fire. Nevertheless, the fact that Sully is alive means a lot to the fans and the third season also traces his struggles with his mental and physical health following the fire and shows the kinds of positive changes his character is going through.
Sully survives the fire in Sullivan's Crossing
As mentioned previously, Sullivan's Crossing Season 3 Episode 1 revealed that Sully is alive. The episode also showed how the town is grappling with the traumatic after effect of the fire. However, in the first episode, nothing much is elaborated regarding how Sully survived the fire or what kind of emotional toll it has taken on him.
Sully himself does not agree to suffering physically because of the fire even though it is evident that he has been gravely affected since he keeps coughing while talking to Maggie. However, Sully maintains that the doctor told him he is fine and does not delve into any more details.
Surviving the fire, however, brings a positive change in Sully’s life as it seems that he is more prepared to let things go and live his life. Therefore, when Helen comes, he surprises everyone by choosing to go Ireland with her, for a long trip. It seems like besides the traumatising effect of the fire, Helen is the one who is instrumental in helping Sully look forward to his life and actually live.
Aside from Sully, Maggie is also grappling with her own loss that happened because of the fire. Unaware to Sully, she was pregnant with Andrew’s child but unfortunately suffered a misscarriage in the fire. Besides dealing with the loss of her unborn child, Maggie also has to face Cal who is shown to be coming back.
The emotional distance between Cal and Maggie is evident despite the two being together. The fact their relationship is so badly strained is highlighted even more when Cal gifts Maggie a necklace in the hopes that she will react positively but it serves more as a reminder that their relationship has already lost its charm.
Sullivan's Crossing can be streamed on The CW.
