Harry Potter is incomplete without his arch-nemesis Lord Voldemort. And while many of the central characters for the upcoming Harry Potter television reboot series on HBO have been cast, they have yet to finalize an actor for the role of Voldemort.
Ralph Fiennes, who adorned the famous black robes in the Harry Potter movie franchise, shares that the only advice he has for the actor is to be careful while walking in his costume.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fiennes gave a tongue-in-cheek response when asked about the upcoming Harry Potter series. He said,
“Make sure you can handle the long-flowing robes and don’t trip over them. Practice your long flowing robe walk. And also, I wore tights. Initially, I wore tights that were one piece. So, they had a gusset, which then kept getting lower and lower through the shooting day and became uncomfortable. So then I said I want to have individual tights like a garter belt… I enjoyed teasing the stunt guys by lifting up my robes and showing them my garter belt.”
Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series
As the antagonist of the story, Lord Voldemort first appears in Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone as he hides behind Professor Quirinus Quirrell’s head to get the Sorcerer’s Stone, which can make him immortal.
Although Quirrell finds his end, Voldemort manages to escape and is resurrected to his former glory in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.
With his menacing presence, Voldemort, aka Tom Marvolo Riddle, is the most powerful dark wizard, obsessed with immortality. His success in creating the Horcruxes to become immortal would become the final quest for Harry and his friends.
The role of Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies has been portrayed by Ralph Fiennes. Christian Coulson and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin portrayed younger Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, respectively.
