Mick Herron’s popular novel Down Cemetery Road is being adapted into a television series by Apple TV. Starring Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson in the lead, the show revolves around an explosion in a house, which leads to the disappearance of a girl.

Her neighbor, Zoë Boehm, then takes it upon herself to find the girl and seeks help from a private investigator named Sarah Tucker. As the two investigate the case, they come across a larger conspiracy.

Apple TV has given viewers some memorable thriller shows, and hence, there are high expectations for Down Cemetery Road. The first episode of the series is going to premiere on October 29, 2025.


The release date of Down Cemetery Road Episode 1

Down Cemetery Road Episode 1 is slated to premiere on Apple TV on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The episode will be dropped at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET. But that is not all. The streamer has planned a double treat for the fans on the premiere day, as the first two episodes of the series will be released together.

Hence, Down Cemetery Road Episode 2 is also going to be released on October 29, 2025, at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET. The rest of the six episodes will then be released on subsequent Wednesdays. Do not forget to activate your Apple TV subscriptions if you want to enjoy the series.


What to expect from Down Cemetery Road Episode 1?

The first episode is titled Almost True. It will set up the main conflict of the series and introduce the major characters, including Zoë and Sarah. The episode will likely showcase the explosion that thrusts Zoë into action, and she will start to investigate what happened to her neighbor, eventually hiring Sarah to help her out. The official synopsis of the series reads:

“When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbor Sarah Trafford becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm. Zoë and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.”

The star cast includes Emma Thompson as Zoë Boehm and Ruth Wilson as Sarah Tucker. The rest of the cast members are Nathan Stewart-Jarrett as Downey, Adeel Akhtar as Hamza, Tom Riley as Mark, Darren Boyd as C, and Tom Goodman-Hill as Gerard.

The show also stars Adam Godley as Joe Silverman, Fehinti Balogun as Amos, Ken Nwosu as Rufus, Sinead Matthews as Denise aka "Wigwam", Steven Cree as Bob Poland, and Aiysha Hart as Paula.

The script has been adapted for television by Morwenna Banks and directed by Natalie Bailey. Banks also serves as an executive producer along with Mick Herron, Hakan Kousetta, Jamie Laurenson, Emma Thompson, and Tom Nash. The project has been produced by 60Forty Films.
