Duster Season 1 Episode 7 recap: An unexpected guest on Jim and Ezra’s road trip
In Duster Episode 7, Jim Ellis hits the road again, this time with Ezra Saxton by his side, as they have to take a mysterious suitcase to Las Vegas. As they drive through the desert, Saxton talks about Jim’s brother Joey and their wild times in Vegas. Jim tries to convince him to divulge more details about a man named Xavier, but Saxton chooses to keep quiet.
Things take a turn when Jim hears a strange noise from the trunk. He finds Luna, his daughter with Izzy, hiding there. She secretly joined the trip after getting suspended from summer camp. Saxton is surprised to see her, but he lets her stay since they are too far from home to turn back.
During the ride, Luna tells Saxton about the trucker protest Izzy is leading. She says women work just as hard as men, but they have kids to take care of too. While Saxton does not agree with her right away, Luna’s words do seem to affect him.
Duster Season 1 Episode 7 recap: Nina finds herself in a tussle
While Jim is in Vegas, Nina is still working undercover. She is getting close to Royce, which makes Billy suspicious. Meanwhile, Nina’s old FBI partner, Agent Grant, is told by higher-ups to get rid of her. They think she knows too much and could ruin their secret plans.
At the same time, Deputy Groomes wakes up from a coma and remembers everything. He tells Billy that Nina is a federal agent and that Jim has been working with her.
Billy is shocked on learning the truth and rushes to find Nina before Grant does. Just as Agent Grant is about to kill Nina at her motel, Billy gets there first. He knocks her out with chloroform and takes her away.
Duster Season 1 Episode 7 recap: Jim and Saxton meet Howard Hughes
In Vegas, Jim, Saxton, and Luna meet Howard Hughes. He is a billionaire who lives in a fancy hotel. From the suitcase, Hughes takes out a recording of President Richard Nixon talking about using fear and racism to control voters.
Hughes says the tape was passed through many hands, from the White House to Russia, and finally to Saxton. Now, it needs to reach someone named Xavier. Hughes tells Jim that it was not Saxton who got Joey killed; instead, it was the CIA. The news shakes Jim, who has always blamed Saxton for his brother’s death.
Hughes’ men later try to give the suitcase to the person they think is Xavier. However, another group shoots them and steals the suitcase. Hence, the recording reaches the wrong hands, leading to potential trouble for Jim and Saxton.
Duster Season 1 finale will be released on Max on July 3, 2025.
