Dynamite Kiss episode 8 recap: Ji-hyeok's engagement and growing misunderstandings between him and Da-rim

Episode 8 of Dynamite Kiss is titled "Love is Hell", which begins right after Ji-hyeok suddenly announces that he wants to get married without waiting for any formalities. Ha-yeong, who was unsure about him from the start, immediately pushes back, but her opinion is ignored.
Their families take over the situation and set an engagement date for the following week, leaving her completely sidelined. The next morning, Ji-hyeok and Ha-yeog's engagement becomes a top news story in Seoul, but Da-rim isn't happy.
The look on her face clearly tells that she doesn't like Ji-hyeok getting engaged. At the office, she distances herself and apologises to him, trying her best to stay strictly professional.
Meanwhile, Ji-hyeok’s half-sister refuses to let go of her jealousy. Once she hears whispers about Ji-hyeok and Da-rim being close, she orders her scheming assistant to follow them and gather anything that could cause a scandal.
A work project sends Ji-hyeok to a rural island, and Da-rim is unexpectedly added to the team. The assistant tags along too, but his only motive to go on the trip with the team in the Dynamite Kiss episode 8 is to catch Da-rim and Ji-hyeok in a compromising situation.
The island trip backfires in Dynamite Kiss episode 8

During the island assignment in episode 8 of Dynamite Kiss, Ji-hyeok and Da-rim end up helping a warm, chaotic family with four kids. Meanwhile, the assistant sent to dig up dirt on them manipulates the situation so the parents are delayed long enough for the last boat to leave.
With no way back to the mainland, Ji-hyeok and Da-rim have no choice but to stay overnight in the only room available. The assistant lurks around trying to snap something damaging, but every plan collapses, and he eventually returns to Seoul with nothing to show, earning himself Ji-hyeok’s sister’s fury.
In the city, the engagement preparations continue, but Ha-yeong is falling apart emotionally. Overwhelmed, she runs to Seon-u for comfort and lies to her mother about being with Ji-hyeok. When Ji-hyeok learns she spent the day with another man, he storms toward Seon-u’s home in anger.
Before he arrives, Ha-yeong tearfully admits to Seon-u that she still has feelings for him and can’t see herself marrying Ji-hyeok. She also reveals Ji-hyeok already suspects something between them.
Later, Ji-hyeok once again notices them together and wastes no time in punching Seon-u. The two men talk and Seon-u mentions that he was drunk that day and this won't repeat. He also asks Ji-hyeok whether he's concerned about Ha-yeong or if he's jealous of Da-rim and Seou-u's relationship.
Dynamite Kiss episode 8: Ji-hyeok misinterprets a family moment

As the episode continues, Ji-hyeok ends up near Da-rim’s area without even noticing how he got there. While wandering around, he sees Da-rim walking with Seon-u and young Jun-ho, all three chatting and laughing like they’re completely at ease with one another.
Since the moment looks so natural from a distance, he believes that Da-rim has a perfect family: a cute little son and a husband. The idea hits him harder than he expects as Ji-hyeok feels confused and jealous. He still watches them with a smile even if it hurts.
The engagement day finally arrives, and the atmosphere looks cool, only from the outside. Both Ji-hyeok and Ha-yeong are unhappy as they like someone else. Ji-hyeok then notices Da-rim arriving for the ceremony, while Jun-ho runs up to her and excitedly calls Da-rim "Auntie."
The single word freezes Ji-hyeok in place. It instantly contradicts what he had assumed the night before in Dynamite Kiss episode 8, and the realisation lands so heavily that he can barely hide his shock.
