"Efforts have been met with silence": The Golden Bachelor star Mel Owens' ex-wife Fabiana Owens opens up about the legal battle

The Golden Bachelor star Mel Owens' ex-wife, Fabiana Owens, in her September 26, 2025, interview with the Daily Mail, opened up about their legal battle.

Mel Owens also shared about his divorce on the show's premiere. However, there was no mention of the legal battle. For the fans who might not know, Mel Owens' ex-wife, Fabiana Owens, is awaiting a payment from him. It was finalized a few months back, but he failed to go through with it.

Based on the court filings, as mentioned by Daily Mail, Mel Owens is to pay approximately $1 million to Fabiana. Additionally, he might also be losing his home while going through with it.

The court documents from Fabiana mentioned the efforts and Mel's behavior:

"Those efforts have been met with silence. Mel has offered no explanation, no timeline, and no indication whatsoever that he intends or is even able to make the equalization payment he expressly agreed to under the terms of the Judgment."

The Golden Bachelor star Mel Owens' ex-wife, Fabiana Owens, reveals details of their ongoing legal battle

In December 2024, Fabiana and Mel Owens' divorce was finalized after a four-year court battle. Additionally, Mel was ordered by the court to pay her $9,80,000 before February 2025. However, based on the details filed in the court documents by Fabiana, The Golden Bachelor star Mel had paid her $40,000.

The documents read:

"Mel has flagrantly violated the clear and unambiguous terms of the Judgment."

It further mentions:

"To date, he has made only a single partial payment of $40,000, leaving an unpaid balance of $940,000 - exclusive of the interest that continues to accrue."

In addition to that, and an additional interest, Mel is also supposed to pay attorney charges. The document also focuses on Mel's retirement income, which is estimated to be $20,000 per month. With that, he had also been getting paychecks from The Golden Bachelor. However, the amount had not been mentioned.

If the said amounts have not been cleared, Fabiana has also filed a request for the marital home to be sold. And then, she should be getting the amounts she was originally supposed to.

Despite her multiple efforts, there had been no explanation from Mel's side. There had also been no indication or timeline for the remaining payment.

Things got even more tense when Fabiana added:

"Making matters worse, I recently learned that he is now at least one month delinquent on the mortgage, thereby compounding my financial exposure and placing me at further risk as a co-obligor on the loan."

The court filings also mention Mel Owens as having a "longstanding and deliberate pattern" of disregard for the court orders.
