In her trademark pink ensemble, Elle Woods is back! Legally Blonde prequel series titled Elle with Lexi Minetree in the lead role is currently in production. Minetree will portray a younger Elle Woods, a character which was previously played by Reese Witherspoon in the much-celebrated movie.
The Amazon Prime Video series is currently in production. In the on-set images of the upcoming show, Minetree is seen dressed completely in pink, holding a shopping bag with her group of friends. She perfectly captures Elle's charm in the fashionable outfit.
Legally Blonde follows the story of Elle Woods, who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her boyfriend. The Amazon Prime Video series will be the origin story of the character from her high school years in the 90’s. Reese Witherspoon had taken to Instagram to introduce Minetree as Elle Woods. She wrote,
“Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production! Couldn't be more excited to introduce you all to @leximinetree as Elle Woods”
Elle is created by Laura Kittrell and Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter and Marc Platt are also executive producers on the show along with Kittrell and Dries. The cast on the much-anticipated show will include June Diane Raphael, Tom Everett Scott, Chandler Kinney, Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Jacob Moskovitz, and Amy Pietz.
Who is Elle Woods in Legally Blonde?
Legally Blonde follows the story of a fashionable sorority Elle Woods. After her boyfriend breaks up with her, Elle sets on a path to win him back. But in the process, she learns about her true potential. She does her best and gets into Harvard Law School. Despite the challenges Elle will come to face, she shines through with her wit and talent.
The new series Elle will follow the lead character in her high school days before she takes on Harvard. Surrounded by her friends and family, Elle sets on a journey of self-discovery.
During an interview on The Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon, Reese Witherspoon revealed,
“…I was like, we should do Elle Woods in high school, because I wanted to see who she was before college, before law school. And I started having all these ideas and these amazing writers came up with a great pitch. And now Amazon is making the show, and it’s called Elle."
There has been no update from Amazon Prime Video on the release date of Elle, which is currently under production.
