Emily in Paris Season 5 is one of the most anticipated Netflix shows of the year. The romantic comedy drama has so far kept the audience entertained with the story of the titular marketing executive who moves to Paris and tries to fit in despite a cultural clash.

At the end of Season 4, Emily was in Rome, where she found a new love interest, while Gabriel was on his way to win her back. Series creator Darren Star has now talked about what the fifth season is going to look like.

In an interview with Deadline, the creator shared that the filming of the season took place in Rome for four weeks, after which the production crew moved back to Paris. He also teased some terrific moments in Emily in Paris Season 5 and said,

“I think we’ve got a really terrific season coming up. We filmed in Rome for the first four weeks, and that was an exciting experience to be there. Now we’re back in Paris, Emily is definitely back in Paris.”

Darren Star talks about Emily in Paris Season 5

During the interview, Darren Star opened up about the cast members of Emily in Paris Season 5. Last year, there were reports that Lucas Bravo was not very keen on returning as Gabriel as he felt the character had lost its fun and charm. Star, however, revealed that the actor’s comments were misunderstood and that he is actually happy to be back on the show,

“I think the latter, just a misunderstanding. I think he was never intending not to come back.”

While Bravo is confirmed to reprise his role, Emily in Paris has officially said goodbye to a main cast member, as Camille Razat, who long remained a part of a love triangle with Gabriel and Emily, is not returning. Star said that her character’s journey has come to a natural conclusion in the show, and hence, it made sense to write her off.

Meanwhile, Lucien Laviscount will be back as a series regular in Season 5 after making recurring appearances as Alfie in Season 4. And then there is Eugenio Franceschini, who stars as Emily’s new suitor, Marcello, who has convinced her to stay in Rome for a while.

The complicated relationship dynamics are going to continue in Season 5 as Emily is stuck between Gabriel, Alfie, and Marcello. Talking about the never-ending thrill in Emily’s love life, Star said,

“Her love life is always complicated. We have Marcello, Lucas Bravo is going to be back this season, so we have some interesting, surprising developments in terms of her love life.”

Speaking about Alfie’s promotion to a series regular, Star added,

“Lucien is basically in every episode this season. He’s terrific, and I’m really happy to see him back this year in a more significant way.”

Emily in Paris Season 5 will also star Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie, William Abadie as Antoine Lambert, and Ashley Park as Mindy Chen.

Emily in Paris Season 5 is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2025.
