Ciao, Emily in Paris Season 5 fans! The beloved Emily Cooper from Paris is back and this time, she's in Rome, looking after Agence Grateau's Roman office.
A lot has changed since Season 4, in which Emily kicked off a new relationship with Marcello while Mindy broke up with Nico. At the same time, Sylvie has decided to stay in Rome for a few days and asks Luc to help her out.
Episode 1 of Emily in Paris is titled "La Dolce Emily," and it begins with Emily waking up to a new beginning with Marcello in Rome and heading for work. She's late as usual and takes the bus, during which she takes Mindy's life update.
As the season progresses, Emily's professional life gets harder, but she always had Marcello by her side. However, Emily in Paris Season 5 ended with Emily and Marcello's break-up, suggesting there's finally a hope for Gabriel.

Emily in Paris Season 5 recap: Emily's journey in Rome and the fall of her office pull her back to Paris

As explained earlier, Emily in Paris Season 5 begins with Emily managing the Agence Grateau office in Rome. She has been working really hard and attracting clients in the new city.
Thankfully, Marcello also supports her and initially, it looked like she would be able to handle the office. However, this Rome chapter does not end in any way Emily expected. The agency struggles to gain a strong footing in the Italian luxury market.
Things worsen when Marcello admits that his family’s brand, Muratori, partnered with Agence Grateau mainly to strengthen its position in a deal with JVMA and not just for trust between the partners. On top of that, major fashion houses pull out of potential collaborations, and long-time Paris clients begin to feel ignored.
And Sylvie realizes that she cannot handle this situation. The damage is done and the Agence Grateau office in Rome if officialy closed in Emily in Paris Season 5, and the entire team returns to Paris.

Mindy's love triangle in Emily in Paris Season 5

The Netflix show has always featured a love triangle, and this time it's not just Emily, Gabriel, and Marcello. The focus is on Emily's bestie, Mindy, who unexpectedly grows closer to Alfie, and the two event has passionae moments.
However, Nico returns in Mindy's life, and he's more caring and understanding than before. Still, it looks like Mindy isn't convinced, but since she spends a lot of time with Nico, she cannot openly express her thoughts about Alfie.
In the last episode of Emily in Paris Season 5, Nico proposes to Mindy. And shockingly, she accepts the proposal. And when she returns to Paris, Alfie questions her about the ring. Emily mentions that Nico is her fiancé now, and Alfie's face clearly tells that he's disappointed.
He congratulates Mindy for making a "big mistake," and then Emily is also surprised to see that Mindy is still confused between the two men. She herself asks what she's doing, and must make a final decision before Alfie decides to leave her life.
Emily in Paris Season 5 finale: Agence Grateau now has a new co-head alongside Sylvie

In the last episode of the series, Emily returns to her company as she already decided not to accept Marcello's offer. And when she returns, Luc and Julain say that they almost sent her stuff to Rome.
At the same time, Sylvie hugs Emily and thanks her for staying and feels sorry for the breakup. And just when Emily thinks she's back to her Paris life, Sylvie reveals that Agence Grateua has been struggling for a long time.
It finally gets a boost when Princess Jane follows the team back from Rome and invests heavily. However, this comes with strings attached, as she becomes co-head of Agence Grateau alongside Sylvie.
As for Luc, his French partner learns about his affair in Rome. On the other side, Julien remains mostly in the background this season, dealing quietly with Mindy temporarily moving out after her fallout with Emily.
Emily in Paris Season 5 ending explained: Emily breaks up with Marcello and returns to Paris

As seen at the end of Emily in Paris Season 5, Emily was excited that Marcello would propose to her as she saw a ring inside his bag. The two even went for a special dinner, and the has outings, but Marcello didn't say a word about their future.
And when Emily sees that the ring was for Mindy, she realizes that Marcello wasn't giong to propese her. However, he did want her in his life and even offered a big deal to Emily in Rome. Ultimately, Emily rejects the position, explaining that she belongs in Paris and staying with Marcello in Rome would also affect her independence.
Though they both love each other and even envisioned a future, they live quite far away. As a result, the two break up. Emily is back in Paris and at Agence Grateau, and is now ready for another chapter in her life.
Emily in Paris Season 5: Does Emily end up with Gabriel?

No, Emily does not end up with Gabriel in Emily in Paris Season 5. Instead, she's single now and currently focused on her work. At the same time, Gabriel was on the sea, serving as one of the best chefs on the cruise boat.
In the final moments of Emily in Paris Season 5, Sylvie texts Gabriel about Emily's breakup. She tells him to use this information, and then Gabriel prepares a postcard with a stamp, just as Emily told him. He tells Emily that he's on the sea and wants her to meet him in Greece.
