It has only been a week since Too Much premiered on Netflix, but the show has been able to achieve a dedicated fan following in a short span of time. The romantic comedy series from Lena Dunham is loosely inspired by the creator’s own life.

It follows a New Yorker named Jessica who goes through a horrible breakup after seven years of a relationship and decides to have a fresh start in London, where she ends up meeting the love of her life, Felix.

Meanwhile, she crosses paths with influencer Wendy Jones, played by Emily Ratajkowski. As audiences await the renewal of Too Much Season 2, Emily has shared a positive update about the future of the series.

In an interview with Decider, the actress revealed that she and Lena Dunham already have some ideas about a potential second season, in which Wendy will become a major character:

“Lena was like, ‘I have a whole story for Wendy if we get a second season. I was like, ‘Okay, keep me posted, girl.' I mean, we just have an idea. We have some ideas.”

Emily Ratajkowski talks about the possibility of Too Much Season 2

Too Much Season 1 ended with the wedding of Jessica and Felix, leaving the room open for a second season. Before Emily Ratajkowski, other cast members and the series creator have also talked about whether they are willing to return for another installment.

In an interview with The Wrap, Lena Dunham said that the wedding is certainly not the end of Jessica and Felix’s story, and she would like to explore the struggles of their marriage in the second chapter. Since the show is based on Dunham’s own life, there is no dearth of source material for more episodes. The creator said:

“I would love to do another season and sort of shift it away from meet-cute and into marriage story. Marriage is not the end of a love story. In many ways, it's the beginning, and a marriage is an incredibly complicated negotiation.”

Will Sharpe, who plays the role of Felix, stated in an interview that Dunham indeed has some ideas about the future of the series. He told The Hollywood Reporter:

“I know she's thinking about it and has ideas. There's a line that [Felix is] like, ‘How long should we stay married.’ I think that's because Lena wanted to just wink at the audience and slightly undercut the kind of perfect ending and just be like, ‘Let’s see how this goes.'”

However, Netflix has not yet renewed Too Much for a second season. The streaming platform will likely analyze the performance of the first season for a few weeks before deciding its fate.

Apart from Emily Ratajkowski and Will Sharpe, Too Much Season 1 starred Megan Stalter as Jessica, Michael Zegen as Zev, Rita Wilson as Lois Salmon, Prasanna Puwanarajah as Auggie, Rhea Perlman as Dottie, Daisy Bevan as Josie, and Dean-Charles Chapman.

All episodes of Too Much Season 1 are streaming on Netflix.
