Amazon Prime Video's 2023 Thai series Enigma ended its gritty and fantastical 4-part journey with a suspenseful finale on August 5, 2023.
The story follows Fa (Chanikarn Tangkabodee), the third top-scoring student at Satrikurat School, who uncovers a strange pattern of deaths after the arrival of a mysterious substitute teacher, Ajin (Metawin Opas-iamkajorn).
Fa discovers that both top-scoring students, Matt and Wan, mysteriously died in the school, leaving her as the potential third target.
While she suspects Ajin as the culprit, it is revealed that he was actually trying to protect her from the Enigma/cult leader's spell, which has put their school under a curse, leading to the deaths of the top-scoring students.
After Ajin trains Fa in various rituals to break the cult leader's spell, the two race against time to uncover the identity of the student who placed the curse on their school in the first place.
Here is what happened in the Enigma finale.
Enigma ending explained: Ajin and Fa discover the student behind the curse
After Ajin explained the history of the school's curse to Fa, the two began their pursuit of the student who put the spell. After much chase, the student is revealed to be none other than Namsine, Fa's ex-best friend.
It is revealed that Namsine is the one who put the curse on the school, where every top-scoring student mysteriously died. When Fa reveals the real reason for her split with Namsine to Ajin, he understands that Namsine was just a pawn for the real cult leader, the Enigma.
Fa reveals how Namsine was forced by her abusive mother to work for a cult leader who forced her to kill people. As Ajin and Fa prepare to fight against a cursed Namsine, they realise her strength has doubled.
The duo chases after Namsine into the forest, where Ajin transfers Namsine's curse upon himself. No longer under the curse's spell, Namsine and Fa embrace and reunite.
Ajin now turns into a wizard who chases after Fa and Namsine. However, Fa lures him into the swimming pool with magic scripts and performs a black magic ritual that Ajin taught her earlier. The ritual works, and Ajin is finally freed from the spell.
Enigma ending explained: Ajin leaves Fa in search of the real cult leader

After everything is back to normal at her school, Fa throws a farewell party for Ajin and expresses her love to him. However, Ajin puts another spell on her and Namsine, after which they go into a deep sleep and forget the events of the curse and Ajin.
While watching TV, they see a celebrity dating news story that features Ajin's face. It is then revealed that Ajin went in search of the real cult leader, and he is only dating the celebrity, Anya, because she has a connection with the leader.
Anya is another active member of Enigma's cult, and while Ajin tries faking his love for her, she sees right through him. When she enters her hotel room, we see the cult leader sitting in the dark. Anya asks him why he is not killing Ajin, considering he is very close to discovering his identity.
While Ajin realises that the cult leader is present in Anya's room, the Enigma expresses his desire to slowly consume Ajin and give him a painful death, setting up a potential war in the sequel.
