English actor Brett Goldstein is set to appear in Escorted, a Prime Video comedy series. The Emmy-winning actor came to prominence with his role as the stoic footballer Roy Kent in Apple TV's acclaimed comedy series Ted Lasso.However, in this new comedy series, Escorted, Goldstein is revealed to be playing a different type of character. According to Variety, he will play a "divorced father" living in Manhattan. His life changes after he accidentally becomes a male escort. Apart from Ted Lasso, he has also been a part of creating and appearing in another acclaimed Apple TV series, Shrinking, starring Jason Segel.However, this new Prime Video series will see Brett Goldstein don a different kind of character as he plays a single and divorced father from Manhattan. According to Variety, the synopsis of the upcoming series reads as:"A divorced dad (Goldstein) in Manhattan accidentally becomes a male escort in this romantic comedy about second chances, the mayhem of co-parenting, and whether real intimacy can ever be bought."Along with appearing as the lead in Escorted, Goldstein is also the writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner of the Prime Video series. He is accompanied by one of Apple TV series, Shrinking's executive producer, Brian Gallivan, who will be the other co-showrunner of the Prime Video series. The TV show was given a straight-to-series order by Prime Video and will have a total of eight half-hour episodes.Along with Goldstein and Gallivan, Escorted will be executive produced by Molly Mandel, known for Bad Thoughts, and Josh Senior and Cooper Wehde, who are known for producing FX's Award-winning series, The Bear. Warner Bros. Television and Amazon MGM Studios are set to produce the latest series.While Goldstein's role might be different in Escorted than his previous popular roles, the one aspect that makes the upcoming series similar to Ted Lasso and Shrinking is that, as per the synopsis, the upcoming series might also have a narrative full of emotions and hope.The 45-year-old actor's upcoming projects also look promising, as in his next endeavour, he will be appearing in a Netflix rom-com film, Office Romance, alongside Jennifer Lopez. The film is also scripted by him and Ted Lasso's co-creator, Joe Kelly.
