Every Year After is an upcoming television adaptation of Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Every Summer After. The show was officially ordered by Prime Video in June 2024, with the cast announcement being made around a year later in July 2025.
The young adult romance novel became an instant hit among readers upon release in 2022, and sold more than one million copies. It was also named the New York Times Bestseller for 14 weeks, which makes the upcoming adaptation all the more exciting.

What is the plot of Every Year After?
The tale of Every Year After takes place across six years and follows two lifelong friends, Percy and Sam. As they spend time in their quaint lakeside town of Barry’s Bay, they start to wonder if there is something more between them than just friendship. The official logline of the show by Prime Video reads:
“Told over the course of six years and one week in Barry’s Bay — the quintessential lake town — Every Year After is a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever.”
Who stars in Every Year After?
Matt Cornett has been cast in the role of Sam, and Sadie Soverall has signed on to play Percy. Cornett is an actor and singer who is known for starring as EJ Caswell in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and Andrew Gallery in The Goldbergs.
On the other hand, Soverall is recognized for playing Beatrix in Fate: The Winx Saga and Jessica in The Gathering. She has also appeared in the films Arcadian, Saltburn, and Little Bone Lodge.
Motorheads actor Joseph Chiu will play Jordie, Chicago Fire star Michael Bradway will appear as Charlie, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress Abigail Cowen will star as Delilah, and Westworld star Aurora Perrineau will portray Chantal. Author Carley Fortune expressed her excitement about the cast in an official statement and said:
“I couldn’t be more excited about this fabulous cast! This is an enormously talented group of actors, whose auditions made me laugh, swoon, and cry. I know they’ll have fans of Every Summer After falling in love with their favorite characters all over again.”
Fortune will serve as an executive producer on the project, with Sex and the City producer Amy B. Harris serving as the showrunner. The rest of the executive producers include Amy Rardin, Grace Gilroy, John Stephens, and Lindsey Liberatore.
Is there a premiere date for Every Year After?
As of now, the release date of the series has not been announced. However, it is known that the show will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries. The filming and post-production will likely take more than a year, and, hence, we can expect the series to drop by the end of 2026 or sometime in 2027.
