A Wakandan shadow hidden in a Greek legend with Eyes of Wakanda Episode 2

If you thought Eyes of Wakanda couldn't get more unpredictable, think again. Episode 2 takes on a creative way of playing around with MCU lore and ancient Greek myth. The setting? Troy, under attack for nearly a decade.

Eyes of Wakanda Episode 2 tells a story where a War Dog named Memnon walks among iconic Greek heroes like Achilles and Odysseus.

Memnon isn't there out of his immense love for Greece. He's on a mission for Wakanda, having been undercover for nine years. While everyone around him believes he's fighting for Greek honor, his real target is Helen of Troy, more specifically, a pendant, filled with rich vibranium, disguised as a piece of jewelry. That's what he's there for. Not war. Not glory. Just the pendant.

Yet the show doesn't rush the storyline. It takes time to build Memnon's relationship with Achilles, making it feel all too real. From battle scars to exchanges, their friendship feels earned and fleshed out. That's what makes the ending hit even harder.

And yes, as expected, the infamous Trojan Horse is seen, but here, it's not just a Greek trick. It's also a ticking time bomb of a clock for Memnon's goal.

The cost of a secret mission wrapped in loyalty

One of the most powerful sides of this Eyes of Wakanda episode is how it handles the duality of it all. Memnon is a man split between two worlds. On the outside, he's a loyal friend and warrior, standing side by side with Achilles.

But inside the armor and all the camaraderie, there's a purpose that only he and no one else truly understands. And it is this internal conflict that drives the entirety of Episode 2.

While Odysseus plans the famous wooden horse attack, Memnon sends secret messages back to Wakanda, updating them constantly on the mission. His body might be in Greece, but his mind is constantly tied to Wakanda. Even when Achilles gifts him a childhood necklace, a moment full of good faith and trust, Memnon accepts it with hesitation, already burdened by what's to come.

And when the Greek soldiers finally enter Troy, things escalate fast. Memnon disappears mid-battle, heading straight for Helen to gain the vibranium artifact. Achilles is left to look out for himself, confused and betrayed. It's a devastating scene, but what makes it brilliant is how Eyes of Wakanda doesn't paint anyone as simply good or bad.

Memnon is doing what he was always trained to do. But Achilles? He's heartbroken. That's when their roads collide, not as brothers in arms, but as enemies.

Achilles’ fall and the emotional return to Wakanda

The battle between Achilles and Memnon isn't just about the pendant. It's layered, tragic, and deeply personal. Achilles believes Memnon was a spy all along. Memnon, holding back his truth, refuses to give up Wakanda's secrets, even if it means losing the one person who fully saw him as a brother. Their fight is brutal, not just in moves but in meaning.

When Achilles strikes the pendant, revealing its true power, everything changes. His focus shifts from war to power, and Memnon is forced to act. Using Wakandan tech, he delivers the final blow, severing Achilles' heel, i.e., his literal and symbolic weakness, and ends the fight with heartbreaking finality.

Back in Wakanda, Memnon, whose real name is B'kai, is not met with celebration. He's haunted, aimless, and deeply alone. The victory feels hollow. The artifact is back, but the cost was too high. Even Noni, now leading the War Dogs, can sense his unrest. She grants him permission to leave Wakanda again, sensing that maybe home is no longer a place for him. Or maybe it never was.

Episode 2 of Eyes of Wakanda doesn't just expand the MCU, it rather deepens it. By threading Wakandan secrets into the heart of Greek mythology, the show crafts a powerful tale of duty, deception, and devastating choices. It's a reminder that history is never what it seems, especially when Wakanda's War Dogs are involved.
