Fallout Season 2 has brought on screen an unexpected reunion that delighted fans of both the post-apocalyptic show and the renowned HBO drama The White Lotus. Walton Goggins, who plays the role of The Ghoul in the Prime Video series, recently shared his excitement about working alongside Jon Gries in the latest season. The two actors formerly worked together in The White Lotus season 3, where their characters shared unforgettable scenes set in a luxury Thai resort.

Now, they have reconnected in the vastly unique setting of a nuclear wasteland. At the Fallout season 2 premiere earlier this month, Goggins opened up about what it meant to share the screen with Gries all over again.

Their connection extends beyond professional collaboration, representing the strong connections forged within the entertainment landscape. The reunion adds a layer of rawness to an already engaging season.

During the red carpet event for Fallout season 2, Goggins spoke lovingly about the relationship with Gries. He explained that working with specific creators and actors creates a strong bond. Goggins shared with reporters.

"Jon is a very dear friend of mine,"

He went on to describe how collaborations with an ensemble cast, like Mike White, forge connections that feel like family. He said the following.

"And whenever you work with someone like Mike White, or anybody that you don't know in that community of actors or crew, whenever you come across them, it's like family,"

The Golden Globe nominee emphasized that his connection with Gries goes back to their work together on The White Lotus. This foundation made their Fallout Season 2 reunion even more significant. Goggins noted

"And Jon just happened to be a friend of mine long before we did that, so it was so good to see him,"

In The White Lotus season 3, Goggins portrayed the role of Rick, a troubled traveler who unwillingly dined with Gries's character Gary. Gary's narrative involved marrying heiress Tanya before her mysterious demise. The show got Goggins his first Golden Globe nomination, marking a significant achievement in his career.

In Fallout Season 2, Gries appears as Biff, a soldier of the New California Republic. He features in the episode titled “The Profligate,” now streaming on Prime Video. The contrast between the lush, picturesque Thai setting and the bleak, ominous American wasteland could not be more striking. For the performer, the shift in ambience is profound, and as he immerses himself further into the narrative through Biff, the character, and the story surrounding him, grows increasingly complex.

The show brings out the different side of the character and gives him new challenges to explore with his craft and acting experience.

Goggins has previously discussed his character's motivations in the show. He told the reporters that The Ghoul stands out from other characters as the only true loner. Goggins explained

"The Ghoul really is the only loner here. He just wants to be with his family,"

While other groups attempt to rebuild society according to their own visions, the Ghoul pursues a singular goal.

The actor elaborated on the show's themes of reconstruction. He added

"On the other side of a calamity, different political parties are formed, different affiliations are made, and you just try to remake it the way that you want to see it run,"

. This observation speaks to both the show's bigger plot and broader human nature.
