Family Karma stars Amrit Kapai and Nicholas Kouchoukos are officially expanding their family. On May 20, 2025, the Bravo couple announced that they are expecting their first child, due via surrogate in November.

The news was shared with an adorable Instagram photo featuring their dog Theodore wearing a “Big Brother” bandana, alongside the caption: “Family of 4 coming soon.” This marks a major milestone for the pair, who tied the knot in April 2022 during Family Karma’s final season.

A rep for Amrit and Nicholas confirmed the pregnancy exclusively to People, adding that the couple has been eagerly anticipating this moment for years.

“We were elated when we found out that our surrogate is pregnant,” they said. “It was so surreal to hear the news we had been anticipating for so long. Each of us has wanted to be a father as long as we both can remember. Knowing our dream is coming to life puts an ear-to-ear grin on our faces.”

Amrit and Nicholas became household names after starring in Family Karma, which ran for three seasons on Bravo. The show followed Indian American families in Miami and notably showcased Amrit and Nicholas’s relationship as a same-sex interracial couple.

The pair earned praise for their candid discussions about identity, culture, and family expectations — making Family Karma a standout series that won Outstanding Reality Series at the 35th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.

In their exclusive interview with People, published May 2025, Amrit and Nicholas revealed their baby will be born via surrogate in November.

“Sharing our big news with close family and friends has felt incredibly joyous — and specifically, sharing the news with both sets of parents who are very eager for their first grandchild,” the couple said.

The Family Karma stars revealed they don’t yet know the baby’s sex but are already considering names. They admitted they’re still figuring out the last name, calling it a “conundrum,” and shared that for the first name, they plan to avoid traditional American or Indian options. Instead, they’re leaning toward a name that blends both cultures and is likely to be short.

Amrit and Nicholas expressed that one of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been the support they’ve received from loved ones and fans of Family Karma.

“The support and encouragement we've received has been reassuring,” they said. “We're thrilled to continue sharing the news and be another example for other gay couples. If it's happening for us, it could happen for them.”

The couple shared that parenthood is more than a personal milestone — it’s an extension of the visibility and openness they embraced on Family Karma.

“We’re certainly excited to become official daddies.”

They added that this next chapter is filled with purpose. Becoming parents as a same-sex couple, they said, is not only a dream fulfilled but a symbol of love, resilience, and progress.

The show’s viewers first got to know Amrit as he struggled with coming out to his conservative Indian family, a storyline that became central to Family Karma. With the support of Nicholas and their loved ones, Amrit’s journey from secrecy to openness was documented in real time, culminating in their engagement and eventual wedding in season 3.

As November approaches, Amrit and Nicholas are preparing for the next chapter.

“We feel honored to be stepping into this new chapter and can't wait to share our lives with our child. It means everything to be building our family,” they told People.
