Author George R. R. Martin has revealed his favorite series finale of all time, and it is certainly not the HBO series Game of Thrones.
The popular author of A Song of Ice and Fire, which was adapted into the groundbreaking fantasy series Game of Thrones, has also seen many of his other works receive popular adaptations, including House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
While fans were left utterly disappointed with the GOT series' finale, George R. R. Martin recently took to his webpage and revealed that the 2001 HBO series Six Feet Under has 'far and away the best finale' in TV history.
Starring Lauren Ambrose, Freddy Rodriguez, Peter Krause, Michael C. Hall, Frances Conroy, Mathew St. Patrick, and Rachel Griffiths in the main roles, Six Feet Under ran for five seasons and followed the story of the Fisher & Sons funeral home. The series finale was titled, Everyone's Waiting.

Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin believes Six Feet Under has the best series finale of all time.
Recently, Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin revealed the show that has the best series finale.
On his webpage, Not A Blog, referencing Six Feet Under, George R. R. Martin wrote that he believes this 2001 HBO show has the best series finale of all time. While the Game of Thrones author has other favorite series that he believes are better than Six Feet Under, the series finale is in a league of its own.
Expressing his love for Six Feet Under's finale, R. R. Martin wrote:
"I liked that series well enough, though I cannot say I loved it as much as I loved ROME or DEADWOOD or FARGO or a few other shows missing from the list, but that last episode was far and away the best finale in the entire history of television, and I cannot imagine how anyone could possibly do better."
The HBO show released its series finale on August 21, 2005, which saw Claire finally deciding that a move to New York for her new job is the best move forward in her life. She also marries Ted, while David and Keith decide to keep the funeral home.
The final moments of the Six Feet Under series finale featured a montage showing each main character in the final moments of their lives as "Breathe Me" by Sia plays in the background, giving the show a satisfactory end.
Fans were left disappointed with George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones finale
While George R. R. Martin revealed his all-time favorite series finale, fans of his popular series Game of Thrones were left utterly disappointed by its season 8 finale. While many factors contributed to this, the GOT fanbase actively blames the author and his inability to complete the story (for over a decade) as one of the main factors.
While A Song of Fire and Ice was initially announced as a trilogy series, Martin extended it to a series of seven books and announced the sixth book, The Winds of Winter, in 2010. While it has been over a decade, the author is still nowhere close to concluding the story of Westeros, which has the whole fandom frustrated.
While no release date for The Winds of Winter is available yet, George R. R. Martin has expressed the desire to complete the story on his webpage:
“Thing is, I do care about them. And I care about Westeros and WINDS as well. The Starks and Lannisters and Targaryens, Tyrion and Asha, Dany and Daenerys, the dragons and the direwolves, I care about them all. More than you can ever imagine."
While the Game of Thrones finale was a disappointing event, book readers hope to find some resolution with The Winds of Winter if and when it becomes available.
