As Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel is all set to go on floors, we get a fresh look at the Bat-Fam. It's an animated series, based on characters from DC Comics, produced by Warner Bros. Animation, which will soon be available on Prime Video. In a recent report about the project, TV Insider revealed the film's official logline. Per Prime Video, it reads,

"[Bat-Fam] follows Batman, Alfred, and Damian Wayne, now having taken on the mantle of ‘Little Batman’ as they welcome a few new residents to Wayne Manor.”

Mike Roth serves as a showrunner and executive producer on Bat-Fam, with Jase Ricci and Sam Register also joining him as executive producers, as per TV Insider. According to another report from Polygon, Roth shared his love and appreciation for Joel Schumacher’s 1997 film, Batman & Robin, which was critically panned upon its release.

Over the years, fans have rediscovered Schumacher’s film for its campy elements and appreciated the filmmaker's unique contribution to the world of these comic-book characters. It reportedly informed Roth's understanding of Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, and Bane, who were also a part of his 2023 action comedy film, Merry Little Batman.

Prime Video has recently shared a few stills from Bat-Fam. They hint at the bright and colorful world that viewers will be able to witness soon on Amazon Prime Video.

Prime Video shares the first look at the animated series Bat-Fam, based on Batman characters

The first look at Bat-Fam shows some of its characters, including Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, and Alicia Pennyworth, among others. London Hughes lends her voice to Alicia's character, while Luke Wilson and James Cromwell lend theirs to Bruce and Alfred. SNL alum Bobby Moynihan will play Man-Bat, Haley Tju stars as Claire, while Michael Benyaer plays Ra’s al Ghul.

In their latest report, TheWrap revealed the descriptions for the characters of Claire and Alicia. According to the publication, Alicia is:

“Alfred’s grandniece and one of Bruce Wayne’s only friends from childhood. When she’s not spreading her unique blend of sincerity, compassion, and infectious positivity around the Manor, she can be found at her new job as a social worker rehabilitating former supervillains in an organization she founded called E*Vil.”

On the other hand, Claire is:

“The former supervillain Volcana, who has become Bruce Wayne’s newest ward after an accident in the Lazarus Pit, transformed her into a 12-year-old girl. Don’t be fooled by her guise of sarcasm and cynicism, deep down she’s grown fond of her new family and has found solace in her role as Damian’s big sister.”

Speaking about Man-Bat, the publication adds,

"Is the eccentric and disheveled former scientist turned mutant-bat-creature who lives in Wayne Manor’s belfry. When he’s not playing video games or foraging the fridge for leftovers, he’s quick to offer his family quirky unsolicited advice like it is ancient Greek philosophy.”

They also describe Ra’s Al Ghul, saying,

“Is the former criminal mastermind of the deadly League of Shadows who’s much more domesticated after a magical mishap essentially turned him into a ghost. Now with all bite and no teeth, he haunts Wayne Manor with his petty desire to be in charge while fawning over his beloved grandson, Damian.”

Bat-Fam will start streaming on Prime Video this November.
