Miranda Kwok’s American crime drama series, The Cleaning Lady, is based on the Argentine television show La chica que limpia. It aired on Fox for four seasons and forty-six episodes from January 3, 2022, to June 3, 2025.

The drama revolves around Thony De La Rosa, a former physician from Cambodia and the Philippines who lives illegally in Las Vegas. She joins a criminal organization as a cleaner to save her very ill child.

The fourth season of The Cleaning Lady concluded with Thony escaping prison, reuniting with her kid, and positioning herself to take over the cartel. Despite its emotional climax and setup for future storylines, Fox canceled the series due to declining ratings. The narrative finishes with unresolved plotlines and no intentions for a fifth season.

Thony De La Rosa, the protagonist of The Cleaning Lady, reached a fresh breaking point in the show’s high-stakes climax, which concluded the fourth season. After being set up for murder in the last episodes, Thony was in grave danger. During her incarceration, she came into intimate contact with Ramona, a formidable and vicious cartel member.

During a bloody prison riot, Thony utilized her medical knowledge to survive and finally escape despite being beaten and betrayed. Jorge, her morally conflicted ally and romantic interest, worked from the outside to expose corruption in the District Attorney’s office and prove her innocence.

After getting free, Thony realized that Ramona had stolen her son, Luca, and Jorge’s daughter, Violeta. This resulted in a difficult pursuit, culminating in a confrontation in which Thony could have murdered Ramona but decided not to. Instead, she buried her alive, believing she has killed her—though Ramona ultimately survived. By the conclusion of the finale, Jorge had begged Thony to escape with him, but she declined. Instead, she took a risk: she stayed within the cartel, provided information to police, and finally took over the Sin Cara organization herself.

Thony’s desire to be the cartel’s leader is one of the numerous unresolved plotlines and unsolved mysteries that remain at the end of The Cleaning Lady. As of now, there is no indication that the series will be picked up elsewhere or renewed, although it concluded with several unresolved arcs. For now, the Season 4 finale serves as an intense and unexpected conclusion to Thony’s journey.
