Stranger Things Season 5 is officially Netflix's most anticipated release, and as the fans and the cast gear up for the second volume and the next batch of episodes, Gaten Matarazzo has some good news for fans of the show. The entirety of the internet cannot help but hear about the various fan theories regarding the season finale, owing to how much it is being talked about.

In a recent conversation with Entertainment Tonight, during PaleyLive's "Stranger Things" - The Final Season Celebration, Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson) was asked if he'd seen any fan theories online that were actually true on how the show ends. Surprisingly, Matarazzo revealed that despite all the hiding and mincing of words that the cast had to go through, fans of the show had actually managed to come up with theories that were "surprisingly adjacent" to the actual ending.

"There are some shockingly adjacent ones, I can say. Most of the time, anytime there's a little bit of truth in the theory, it shows up when they get something right in a grand scheme of a lot of it being wrong. But one weird detail will be right on the money, and that's fun to find."

However, he did go on to add that usually these "truths" or correct guesses were hidden beneath a lot of false guesses, so the fan theories failed to actually correctly figure out the Stranger Things Season 5 finale. He concluded, saying that it was actually really fun for them, as the only people privy to this ending, to find these little slivers of truth hidden between a lot of incorrect theories.

Gaten's reveal is, in a way, all the more reason for fans to keep talking about these fan theories, because they might not know it yet, but it's very (only a little) close to the actual Stranger Things Season 5 finale.

Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 2 drops on December 25, 2025, at 8 PM PT, and here's when that is for you.
