Geek Girl Season 2 received a major update on July 16, 2025, as it was revealed that celebrated British actor Layton Williams joined the cast of the second season of the Netflix series as a character named Onassis. For those who don't know, Williams is known for playing the role of Stephen Carmichael throughout all seasons of Bad Education and the movie.
Furthermore, it was confirmed that the second season of the appreciated Netflix series is under production, as an image from the table reading featuring Liam Woodrum and Emily Carey was made public. As the production on Geek Girl Season 2 is underway, it is expected to stream on Netflix sometime in 2026.
What do we know about Geek Girl Season 2?
Geek Girl Season 2 is probably adapting the second book in the series, Model Misfit. The first season followed Emily Carey's Harriet Manners, who is suddenly thrust into the glamorous world of fashion after being bullied throughout school. Now that Harriet has managed to enter the fashion world, the upcoming season is set to follow her as she tries to balance her personal and professional life. Even the official synopsis seems reads hint at this:
“Season two picks up as Harriet continues to juggle school life with the ever-escalating demands of modelling, friendships, and discovering who she truly wants to be.”
Zoë Rocha, who serves as the showrunner of Geek Girl Season 2, expressed her excitement in working with the cast and crew, and even author Holly Smale.
Who is cast in the second season?
The cast of Geek Girl Season 2 is filled with talented actors like:
- Emily Carey as Harriet Manners
- Rochelle Harrington as Nat Grey
- Sarah Parish as Jude Paignton
- Layton Williams as Onassis
- Tim Downie as Richard Manners
- Zac Looker as Toby Pilgrim
- Hebe Beardsall as Betty
- Jemima Rooper as Annabel Manners
Of this, for now, it looks like Layton Williams' Onassis is the new addition to the cast, while the rest are all reprising their roles from the first season of Geek Girl.
Why did it take a year for Netflix to renew Geek Girl for a second season?
The first season of Geek Girl streamed on Netflix on May 30, 2024. But it wasn't until April 30, 2025, that it was officially confirmed that Netflix greenlit the second season. The delay in the second season's renewal has to do with the change in production credit. The first season was produced by the Canadian company Corus Entertainment's subsidiary Waterside Studios.
However, Corus and its subsidiaries are going through a rough phase, and now, Boat Rocker, another Canadian company, has stepped in. Showrunner Zoë Rocha said this after receiving the news of renewal:
“I am beyond excited that Geek Girl has been recommissioned for a second season by Netflix. The amazing audience reaction to Season 1 was truly incredible, and we can’t wait to bring this next chapter to life. I’m thrilled to be working with Holly [Smale] and Emily [Carey] again, and … to continue to build and expand the fabulous Geek Girl universe. Let’s see what magic Harriet Manners can sprinkle onto the fashion world this time round.”
As of now, Geek Girl Season 2 doesn't have a release date. As we wait for it, the first season is available to stream on Netflix.
