Girl Taken Season 1 ending explained: Rick's fate, Abby's pregnancy twist and Lily's future 

Paramount+'s thriller Girl Taken Season 1, featuring Jill Halfpenny and Game of Thrones' star Alfie Allen, left the viewers hooked to the screen till the end.

At the centre of the series are twin sisters Lily and Abby, and their mother, Eve Riser. Their happy little world is shaken when Lily goes missing. As the detectives dig deeper, Eva and Abby continue their search for Lily. Turns out, Lily is abducted by their school's English teacher, Rick Hansen (Alfie Allen).

Rick volunteers in the search party to avoid suspicion and even consoles Eva. Back at his cottage, Rick tortures Lily and keeps her chained in the basement for five long years until she finally escapes. However, things aren't so easy as they seem. After Lily returns, she learns some hard truths that might change her life forever.

Girl Taken Season 1 ending explained: What happened to Lily?

Lily and Abby were twin sisters who studied at a high school in Hollowell. Rick was their English teacher, and Abby had a crush on him. So when one day Lily was hanging out with her boyfriend, Wes, Abby interrupted. The sisters had a heated argument, and Lily picked on Abby for having a crush on their teacher. However, before they could mend their differences, Rick kidnapped Lily and kept her in captivity for five long years in an isolated basement of a forest cottage.

After five long years, Lily managed to escape, and she revealed to the police the atrocities she faced. Soon, the cops arrested Rick. However, in the span of five years, Rick had groomed and abused her, and Lily was pregnant with his child. Rick took away the child and forced his wife Zoe to look after it. He told Lily that she had given birth to a stillborn child.

After Abby comes to know about Rick's torture of Lily, she asks Zoe to confess to her partner's wrongdoings. After all, the bail plea depended on Zoe's statement. Zoe had been a devoted wife to Rick, and she mustered up the courage to speak against him in court. Zoe told the truth to the judges, and Rick was sentenced to life imprisonment. However, Rick managed to escape when the guards were transporting him.

Meanwhile, Lily, Eve, and Abby moved to a different house, and the detectives Rachel and Tommy stayed with them for protection. It was clear that the threat wasn't over yet. With Rick escaping prison, things got way more complicated.

Abby knew that whatever happened to her sister Lily was due to Rick's sick obsession. She sensed that Rick would strike again, and when he escaped from the prison, she knew she had to do something.

Out of sheer disgust and anger, Abby rushed to Rick's cottage and came face to face with Rick. Rick told her that if she had gotten her instead of Lily, his project would have been perfect. Abby, feeling utterly disgusted, stabs Rick in the neck after a brutal fight. To avenge her twin sister, Abby killed Rick at his cottage.

Elsewhere, when Lily, Even, and the detective arrived at the cottage after they saw that Abby had been gone for a long time. They found Rick's dead body, but Tom wanted him to suffer behind bars. Turns out, Rick killed a girl called Isobella and even apparently killed a guy after escaping from the court. Tommy framed the case as an act of self-defense and saved Abby from the charges.

In the end, we learnt that Abby was pregnant with Wes's babies. Yes, after Lily went missing, Abby started dating Lily's boyfriend, Wes. Their shared grief brought them closer together, and they fell in love. Abby felt guilty of charging Lily about dating random guys just like their mother, the day she went missing. When Lily learnt about their relationship, she understood that the search for her brought them together, and they fell in love. At the end of Girl Taken Season 1, Lily forgives Abby.

Lily finally met her daughter, Alice, in the foster home. Lily was pregnant with Alice when Rick raped her. Rick lied to her that her child died and brought Alice to his home to Zoe. Rick lied about Alice to Zoe. When Rick's truth was out, Zoe tried to get rid of Alice. She even tried to kill herself. Even though not much is known about Zoe's past, we can all assume that she was manipulated, and the trauma made her unfit to take care of a baby. In the end, it was a heartfelt moment when Alice reunited with her biological mother, Lily.
