Girls and Their Horses is the title stirring interest in television and literary circles alike. The gripping novel by Eliza Jane Brazier is now being turned into a series — and Nicole Kidman is leading the charge. This is a novel set in the extravagant, intense world of showjumping, revolving around girls who ride, their demanding mothers, and a shady death at a horse show.

But what is the series about, and who's involved in bringing it to life?

Here's a full breakdown of what we know so far about this upcoming murder mystery set against the backdrop of horses and ambition.

Girls and Their Horses: A world of horses, secrets, and high society

Girls and Their Horses takes a deep dive into Rancho Santa Fe, a coastal Californian town where the extremely wealthy often settle down and where danger sometimes hides just beneath the surface.

At the front line of the story is the Parker family, a newly rich clan hoping to fast-track their teenage daughters into the elite world of horse-riding competitions. The sun-drenched setting, however, hides a much darker turn of events: a murder.

And as the events unfold, the seemingly perfect world of stables and saddle pads begins to slowly blow up.

The A24 Babygirl star is set to play the mother of the Parker family. The actress, known for delivering complex and nuanced performances, is also executive producing the series.

The series promises to be more than just a tale of wealth and competition. It's a mystery wrapped in glitter and grit. The series is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios alongside Legendary Television for Prime Video.

Behind the scenes: familiar names and fresh twists

Girls and Their Horses reunites Nicole Kidman with Jenna Lamia, who previously led Netflix's The Perfect Couple, also starring Kidman. Lamia returns here as showrunner and executive producer.

Author Eliza Jane Brazier will be writing the pilot and is also serving as an executive producer. Production is still in its early stages, so casting details beyond Kidman remain tightly under wraps.

This isn't Kidman's first venture into suspenseful, book-based television. She's taken on key roles in projects such as Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers, and more, showing a consistent interest in layered, psychological stories.

This new series exactly fits that very mold, with its blend of family drama, social hierarchy, and thriller pacing.

Meanwhile, Brazier has more irons in the fire — she's adapting her other works, If I Disappear and Good Rich People, for television. But Girls and Their Horses, a former "Read with Jenna" pick, remains the spotlight project, promising viewers a stylish yet chilling ride through wealth, ambition, and the lengths people will go to for success.

Girls and Their Horses has all the right ingredients for a standout drama — a compelling book, a seasoned actress, and a world where privilege hides peril.

As development unfolds, all eyes will be on this high-tension tale of mothers, daughters, and the deadly cost of chasing perfection.
