J.K. Simmons is one of the three Die Hart actors who received Emmy nominations for their performance in the show. The comedy action-adventure series, starring Kevin Hart, might be one of the most underrated comedy series in recent years. However, the series recently received three Emmy nominations, drawing more attention to the comedy, which initially premiered on Quibi and later became part of numerous shows on the Roku channel.

In a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, Oscar-winning J.K. Simmons encouraged people to explore these small to medium-sized platforms that also offer good content. He said:

"Go and check out Roku and some of the small- to medium-sized platforms because a ton of excellent work is being done. Die Hart is high on that list, and hopefully our three Emmy nominations for the cast are evidence of that."

Die Hart's J.K.Simmons urges people to check small streaming platforms and discover new shows

Kevin Hart’s Die Hart tells the story of how he aims to become an action star and is sent to a boot camp for training under John Travolta’s character, Ron. J.K. Simmons joins the series as Jackson Pepper, who is described as an overbearing and narcissistic director. This role earned him his first Emmy nomination. While discussing Die Hart, he also mentioned the conversation about encouraging people to explore more content on different platforms, like Roku, beyond the most popular ones.

To add to his previous comment, he said:

"I always encourage people to seek out more content. You search through the big two or three and go, ‘Yeah, there’s nothing interesting,’ or you settle for something."

He further shared how he and the others were surprised by their Emmy nominations among numerous shows that come out every year. He said:

"It was a surprise that this was the one that came along with the nomination, because it’s such a crowded marketplace. We thought Die Hart wasn’t getting as much attention as we hoped it would. Apparently we were wrong, because three of us are on the list, and that’s beautiful."

J.K. Simmons’ comments on his Die Hart character

In the same interview, J.K. Simmons also discussed his character Jackson Pepper, who isn't someone most would want to work with because of his unlikable personality. The Emmy-nominated actor reveals that he's never worked with anyone like his character in his long career; however, he shares that certain moments made him see himself in the role.

He shared:

"I’ve never encountered anybody like Jackson Pepper in Hollywood at all, so it was a complete piece of fiction for me. Most of us in this business have egos. Sometimes you see bits and pieces of yourself in these unflattering characters and go, ‘Yeah, that’s a dick move, but I identify with where he’s coming from.’ It’s part of the fun."

Other than J.K. Simmons, Kevin Hart, and Nathalie Emmanuel have also been nominated for Emmy Awards for their roles in Die Hart.
