Grey's Anatomy Season 22 features a multicultural cast of seasoned stalwarts, familiar favorites, and newcomers, all ready to weave drama at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Kevin McKidd, Camilla Luddington, Kim Raver, Caterina Scorsone, Chris Carmack, Jason George, Anthony Hill, Alexis Floyd, Harry Shum Jr., Adelaide Kane, and Niko Terho get series regular billing this season.

Recurring cast member is Trevor Jackson, and guest episodes are done by Debbie Allen (Catherine Fox), Scott Speedman (Nick Marsh), Jaicy Elliot (Taryn Helm), and Floriana Lima (Nora Young).

Grey's Anatomy Season 22 starts on October 9, 2025, and runs for 18 episodes in showrunner Meg Marinis' run. Ellen Pompeo, returning as Meredith Grey, is also still the narrator but appears in only a few episodes.

The original cast members, since the beginning, Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber), who were in every single episode and made guest appearances, help bridge continuity to the hospital that is fighting new and chronic challenges.

Main cast of Grey's Anatomy Season 22

Ellen Pompeo as Dr. Meredith Grey

Pompeo guest stars on Season 22 of Grey's Anatomy and shows up in around seven episodes, narrating the show. She acts to tie together past and new plotlines.

Chandra Wilson as Dr. Miranda Bailey

Bailey shows up in Season 22 of Grey's Anatomy, oscillating between administrative work and surgical administration.

James Pickens Jr. as Dr. Richard Webber

Webber is the most senior Grey Sloan character in all the episodes this season.

Kevin McKidd as Dr. Owen Hunt

Owen remains a core member of the trauma surgery team and provides leadership throughout the entire season.

Caterina Scorsone as Dr. Amelia Shepherd

Amelia is back as a recurring cast member, possibly with the variable episode count due to juggling Grey's Anatomy Season 22 and Station 19 guest stars. She remains a neurosurgeon with complicated personal and professional relationships.

Camilla Luddington as Dr. Jo Wilson

Jo returns to OB/GYN and still grapples with patient care, personal life, and politics at the hospital.

Kim Raver as Dr. Teddy Altman

Teddy continues to work as a surgical case support and hospital operations in a leadership position.

Chris Carmack as Dr. Atticus "Link" Lincoln

Link also survived Season 21's explosion and is still an orthopedic surgeon in Grey's Anatomy Season 22, whose plots involve personal healing and professional healing.

Jason George as Dr. Ben Warren

Ben stays at Grey Sloan after moving over from Station 19, uniting the two shows in some of the storylines.

Anthony Hill as Dr. Winston Ndugu

Winston transitioned from recurring to more appearances on Grey's Anatomy Season 22, injecting new life into the main cast.

Alexis Floyd as Dr. Simone Griffith

Simone is a resident who works through difficult cases and work relationships.

Harry Shum Jr. as Dr. Benson “Blue” Kwan

Blue is one of the younger surgeons and a resident, and with hospital politics and rivalries.

Adelaide Kane as Dr. Jules Millin

Jules continues on the surgical staff with professional and personal agendas still underway.

Niko Terho as Dr. Lucas Adams

Lucas continues as a resident, closely tied to hospital life and Meredith Grey's legacy.

Grey's Anatomy Season 22 exits and goodbyes

Jake Borelli (Dr. Levi Schmitt) and Midori Francis (Dr. Mika Yasuda) exit as series regulars, along with the Season 21 storyline change.

Some of the new cast members, such as Anthony Hill, are upgraded to series regulars but can still potentially have recurring storylines.

The rest of the major or recurring castings might be revealed closer to or even during the season premiere.

Grey's Anatomy Season 22 recurring and guest cast

Debbie Allen as Dr. Catherine Fox reprises her recurring role with family baggage and authority at Grey Sloan.

Scott Speedman as Dr. Nick Marsh continues his guest role.

Jaicy Elliot as Dr. Taryn Helm and Floriana Lima as Nora Young both recur in recurring storylines.

Trevor Jackson becomes a recurring cast member.

Guest stars Jade Pettyjohn and Curtis Edward Jackson are part of the short story content.

Behind the scenes: production information

Grey's Anatomy Season 22 has already been ordered by showrunner Meg Marinis.

Ellen Pompeo appears through narration and selective guest spots, with Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. featuring as a recurring presence in every episode.

Season 22 premieres on October 9, 2025, following the pattern of blurring medical drama with professional and personal storylines.

Grey's Anatomy Season 22 attains continuity of the original cast that currently exists and rejuvenation of newer additions and returnees. Having lost the likes of stalwarts Jake Borelli and Midori Francis and added the likes of Trevor Jackson, the cast is renewed, but the fundamental theme of life at Grey Sloan Memorial remains.

The season will once more see increased surgery cases, hospital politics, and character-driven storylines.
